All of this shows that Russia feels unpunished for its war crimes, and therefore continues to escalate its terror. Ukraine urgently needs stronger air defense – first and foremost, missiles, additional systems, expanded capabilities for our combat aviation, and increased drone production to protect lives.

A shell hit one of the wards, damaging the building where patients and staff were inside. Three medical workers, aged 52, 49, and 21, were injured. They sustained concussions and blast injuries and are now receiving medical care. Hospitals are not military targets. Yet, Russia keeps attacking places meant to save lives. Russia must face consequences every time it chooses violence over diplomacy. Strong decisions and increased pressure must be applied to the aggressor immediately.

The world knows this unforgettable melody and sings it in numerous languages. “Shchedryk” (Carol of the Bells), inspired by a Ukrainian folk carol, became a global symbol of Christmas. It was composed by Ukrainian Mykola Leontovych, born on this day in 1877. Leontovych was a teacher, composer, and choir conductor who dedicated his life to recording and revitalising Ukrainian folk songs. His music carries a special kind of magic: no matter the language, the melody resonates with joy, hope, and the spirit of celebration. No child, no elderly person, no one anywhere in the world should have to go through this and spend winter days without heat, water, or electricity. Russia is deliberately waging energy terror against the civilian population. Only united action by the international community can stop Russia. #WarmthForUkraine We are grateful to all countries, organisations, and people all over the world providing energy support to Ukraine. We call on our partners to increase pressure on Russia – so that the aggressor state is unable to intensify or expand its terror.

As a result of Russia’s overnight attack against Ukraine, at least 100 people across Ukraine have been injured, and four killed. Kyiv was the main target, but strikes affected multiple locations across Ukraine. Residential buildings, schools, civilian infrastructure, a market and a water supply facility were damaged. In Kyiv alone, 78 people were injured and two killed. Search and rescue operations continue in the capital, where people may still remain under the rubble. As a result of Russia’s overnight attack against Ukraine, at least 100 people across Ukraine have been injured, and four killed. Kyiv was the main target, but strikes affected multiple locations across Ukraine. Residential buildings, schools, civilian infrastructure, a market and a water supply facility were damaged. In Kyiv alone, 78 people were injured and two killed. Search and rescue operations continue in the capital, where people may still remain under the rubble. Helpless animals, some receiving treatment and others in temporary care, were trapped inside. Emergency teams worked tirelessly to evacuate them, provide oxygen, and stabilise the injured. Tragically, not all could be saved. Russia is deliberately targeting all life and must be held accountable for its ongoing crimes. For Ukrainians, every life matters – and we will continue to protect it.
