Ukraine urgently needs stronger air defense – first and foremost, missiles, additional systems, expanded capabilities for our combat aviation, and increased drone production to protect lives.

Instead of silence and fear, other scenes appear: parents lighting up a football pitch so that kids can keep their game going; barbers cutting hair with flashlights; musicians singing on after the lights go out, refusing to let the attack interrupt the moment. These acts reveal a spirit of a country that refuses to pause because of Russian terror. While Russia tries to disrupt normal life, the world must do everything possible to stop Russia's aggression and achieve a just and lasting peace.

These were ordinary people travelling through the city when Russia deliberately targeted civilian transport. It was composed by Ukrainian Mykola Leontovych, born on this day in 1877. Leontovych was a teacher, composer, and choir conductor who dedicated his life to recording and revitalising Ukrainian folk songs. His music carries a special kind of magic: no matter the language, the melody resonates with joy, hope, and the spirit of celebration. On 24 March, Russian drones hit central areas of the city, damaging homes and a protected cultural landmark. At least 13 civilians were injured. The same day, other Ukrainian cities – including Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, and Ivano-Frankivsk – were also targeted.
