The Steelers ran the ball fourth-most last year, while Aaron Rodgers attempted the second-most passes. Arthur Smith on marrying together a run-heavy OC with pass-happy QB: “We didn’t bring Aaron in here and sign DK for all that money to go run the wishbone.”

Steelers RBs Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle working on their patience through the hole.

Early look at Drew Allar. Mike McCarthy very hands on with the rookie QB.

Come for Calvin Austin saying the crowd was “too lit” for Tyler Loop. Stay for CAIII saying he’s sending the ball to his Pops.

Roman Wilson said he tries to be one of the last players left after practice working on the JUGs machine. Here he was today before practice putting in some work. He finished the day by catching a bomb from Aaron Rodgers for a TD in the 2-minute drill.

It’s early. Very early. But on May 18, four months before the season kicks off, Will Howard took the QB2 reps behind Aaron Rodgers during the period open to the media. The rotation continued with Mason Rudolph and then Drew Allar.

Whoever decided to have James Harrison give the fan code of conduct speech deserves a raise

Yinzer of the day

Calvin Austin III on his game-winning touchdown catch: “Shoutout to 8 for believing in me.”

Steelers GM Omar Khan and coach Mike McCarthy look on as Joey Porter Jr. works with Jaquan Brisker. Porter participated in some individual drills during the brief viewing window open to the media today.

Joey Porter Jr.: “It just sucks when we know it was on the defense.”

It might be impossible to watch to P.K. Subban praise Sid on ESPN without think about the time Crosby dribbled his head off the ice like a basketball

Justin Fields very candid today: “I don’t think I played good enough if I’m being real with you. “If I’m being real with myself, if I did play well enough, I don’t think there would be any sort of (question) who should be playing who should not.”

Aaron Rodgers: “When I first got in the league, there wouldn’t be conversation about if (Mike Tomlin and Matt LaFleur) were on the ‘hot seat.’” In a long, detailed answer, he called it an “absolute joke.”

Steelers OC Arthur Smith on the Titans requesting to interview him for their HC vacancy: “The only thing that matters is my current job.” “All my focus is on our guys… anything I take away from that, I’m not doing my job. All I care about is the Steelers and our players.”

Pat Freiermuth: “Being able to get this for Coach T… it was awesome.” What do you mean by that? “You know what I mean”

Cam Heyward: “I have to make a decision for my family. This is a business. I cannot play this game forever… It’s not being greedy. It’s just how this game is. It’s Not For Long. NFL.”

Cam Heyward on the franchise tag: “It’s stupid.” “Why should any team be able to take advantage of a player for one year? It’s used in negotiations.”

Cam Heyward on noise surrounding Mike Tomlin: “I don’t really care about that noise, because they don’t know what Mike T puts into us…. “Coaches can only do so much. Players have to play better. In those critical moments, players have to step up.”

Patrick Queen on the environment: “It was incredible. I might get a little heat, but it’s kind of different than being at home. They were into it the WHOLE game. Every single third down, we could hear them.”

Broderick Jones on his sack of Aaron Rodgers and how the 4x MVP has raised the standards for a young offense: “He told me don’t lose the fire and I told him the same.”

I was covering Purdue 10 years ago when T.J. Watt made this incredible pick-6.

Aaron Rodgers: "That was in no way the play at all. It was a play to Jonnu (81) and the whole left side was caved in. I started running and realized I had two larger humans chasing me that I maybe was equal to or slightly faster than."

Patrick Queen said the defense “got too comfortable” during the season and “let off the pedal.”

Aaron Rodgers: “There were probably people in the (Jets) organization that didn’t think I could still play anymore. It was nice to remind them that I still can.”
