I could be early, but I think we're getting close to a classic "kitchen sink" moment for Nike $NKE . The stock has been crushed for years, and management just delivered one of the most negative earnings calls I've heard in a long time. That's exactly why I'm paying attention. Sometimes, after a prolonged decline, management chooses to rip the band-aid off all at once. They acknowledge every problem, reset expectations, and lower the bar as much as possible. Capitulation isn't just for investors, it happens in the boardroom too. Once everyone who wanted to sell has sold, the supply of sellers starts to dry up. The stock doesn't need great news. It just needs news that's less bad than everyone expects. If the next couple of quarters show even modest operational improvement, today's deeply depressed expectations could end up marking the bottom. I'm not saying this is the bottom. I'm saying this is exactly the type of setup I look for when trying to identify one. Time will tell if it is.
