We could eliminate the gas tax permanently by conducting a thorough audit of state government and identifying $600m in waste, fraud and corruption. When I'm governor, I'll work to make this permanent.

A single government building in Springfield costs as much as an entire casino resort, and you're the one paying for the courthouse. It doesn't even include a parking lot. And after 40 years of payments, taxpayers still won't own the building. That's not a construction plan. That's political insiders gambling with your money.
