I believe I'm faster than a non-enhanced human… at controlling a computer, at least (still can't move my body....yet). So basically, my implant learns over time as it collects more data. And with now almost 2 years of daily use, Eve doesn’t just follow what I want to do, she pretty much anticipates it. Eve's the best 😏

People ask me this all the time, so here’s the quick version of how my Neuralink implant works.

Neuralink was kind enough to open their doors for me to tour their headquarters a few weeks back. It was an amazing experience and a day I'll never forget. This was at a company wide meeting at the end of the day. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Hope y'all enjoy! I'm hoping to tell my story in full some day.

Yes, I named my brain implant Eve. Here’s why: • Couldn’t name her Genevieve… already used that name for some college paraphernalia. • We’re on the Eve of a new era. Felt poetic. • WALL-E & Eve = elite. • Adam had Eve. God gave him a helper. Mine just lives in my skull. • Together we may or may not curse humanity. TBD. 😅🦾

Here’s how a dual implant could potentially bypass a break in the spinal cord.

I really believe this. A day is coming when someone with a spinal cord injury rolls into the hospital, gets a brain implant, and walks out a couple days later. We’re not there yet. But we’re closer than people think. Being part of that progress changed something in me. For years I felt like a burden. Now I feel useful again. That’s a gift I don’t take lightly.

For now, BCIs like mine are output-only. They don’t generate input in the brain. They simply read neural signals and turn them into actions — like controlling a computer with your mind. In the future, I do think BCIs will be able to generate input into the brain. We are very far from that today, and anyone saying otherwise is getting ahead of reality. But if we ever get there, the most important question won’t be technical. It’ll be: what will it mean to be human?
