Letters from PM | Nirmala Devi, Green Army "If he wears it, then everyone will!" thought Nirmala Devi, from Deora, a small village near Varanasi. The 'Green Army,' a group of determined women in Deora, had come together to support and empower each other. Their journey began with the establishment of a slipper-making factory. But the first pair of slippers they made wasn’t for sale. It was meant to be sent to someone special.. With hope and belief in their hearts, they sent the slippers to him, convinced that if he wore them, the world would recognize their story and their dreams. Days later, a letter arrived. As Nirmala Devi held it, her eyes gleamed with joy. "It felt like he was right here with us. It felt like I met PM Modi himself!" she said excited. It was a letter of appreciation from PM Narendra Modi It carried a heartfelt message for the sisters of the 'Green Army' "I am delighted to learn about your slipper factory and deeply appreciate the thoughtful gift of your creation. It fills me with immense pride to see women like you leading the way, and contributing to the progress of our nation and society." For the Green Army, this was a moment of validation, a sign that their efforts mattered. These women, who had already transformed their village by spreading awareness against drugs and gambling, celebrating the birth of every girl child like a festival, and fighting against dowry, found their efforts recognized at the highest level. "Chaar chand lag gaye!" Nirmala Devi exclaimed, summing up the pride and joy shared by the entire Green Army.
