ZAMBIANS IN THE PRECIOUS MINERALS SECTOR APPEALED & WE LISTENED, SO YESTERDAY, WE INTRODUCED A STATUTORY INSTRUMENT NO. 4 0F 2025 ON THE SUSPENSION OF 15% EXPORT DUTY ON PRECIOUS STONES & METALS. This is the wish of Zambians in the sector. Note that the appeal was made by Mr VICTOR KALESHA, the President of the Emerald & Semi-Precious Stones Association of Zambia, during the Townhall Forum on the 2024 Economic Performance & 2025 Budget Implementation & Economic Outlook, held at the Mulungushi International Conference Center on 21 January, 2025. THE LAW SAYS, KWACHA-NGWEE IS THE SOLE LEGAL TENDER IN ZAMBIA: Bank of #Zambia Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya says according to section 18 of the Bank of Zambia Act, the Zambian #Kwacha-Ngwee is the only legal tender in the Republic. The Governor was speaking during the Midyear Economic & Budget Performance Review. He said contrary to insinuations in some quarters, the country-wide de-dollarization consultation process is not act of exchange controls, “FAR FROM IT,” we have a duty to ensure currency stability.
