I've just left the Mater Hospital after meeting health workers from many backgrounds who are genuinely terrified for their own safety and for the safety of their families. They are appealing for those behind these attacks to stop. These health workers are the people who care for us and our loved ones when we need them most. I made sure to share with them the deep appreciation that the vast majority of people have for the work they do every single day

As First Minister, I’ve decided not to attend the White House events this year. The US President’s comments on forced expulsion of the Palestinian people of Gaza cannot be ignored. I will continue to engage with senior figures in the US for peace and economic growth. In the future, when our children and grandchildren ask us what we did while the Palestinian people endured unimaginable suffering, I will say I stood firmly on the side of humanity.

The overwhelming majority of people in our community are kind, caring and welcoming. Those who have carried out racist attacks do not and will never speak for people here. I visited the local community, including some of our ethnic groups, in North Belfast to offer my support.

Last night's attack in North Belfast was horrific. My thoughts are with the injured man and all those who responded at the scene. I want to recognise the bravery of members of the local community and the PSNI who put their own safety at risk in an effort to stop this vicious attack. I've been in regular contact with representatives on the ground and with the Police throughout the day, and I'll continue to offer my full support to the local community.

There is no war in Gaza. It is an attempt to erase the Palestinian people from existence. It is a genocide. Starvation. Massacring civilians as they queue for food. Bombing hospitals, homes, and refugee camps. The international community must stop enabling this genocide, and impose serious and immediate sanctions on Israel.

Meeting today with the SNP and Plaid Cymru following the historic election results. Three nationalist and pro-independence First Ministers will soon be in office for the first time ever. People are increasingly looking beyond the constraints of Westminster.

🚆 A transformative investment of almost £200 million has today been confirmed for the Belfast–Dublin and Derry–Belfast train services. This will cut journey times, modernise tracks on both routes, and ensure the new hourly Belfast–Dublin service continues to be funded into the future! I want to commend our Sinn Féin Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, the Irish Government, and our European partners, who have worked together to deliver a total investment of nearly €1 billion in all-Ireland rail in recent months.

Over the past number of days, I have spoken with many families whose loved ones are in the Middle East. I am in ongoing contact with the Irish and British governments and I am working to support our citizens in the region. This war is reckless and irresponsible. Further escalation, including the involvement of the British government, reflects a dangerous disregard for international law. I will not be part of any briefing by the British government on their military operations. My priority is the safety and wellbeing of our citizens. I will update you as soon as there is further information.

The latest Israeli attacks on a defenceless population in Gaza are barbaric and inhumane. World leaders can no longer turn a blind eye. The international community must unite against these acts of genocide and hold Israel accountable for its flagrant breaches of international law.

🤍❤️ I was delighted to visit two fantastic Tyrone GAA clubs, Loughmacrory and Greencastle. It was brilliant to see so many young people having a great time and being part of their local clubs. It was especially uplifting to see the work being done by the clubs to make sure that every child feels included and welcomed. Across Tyrone, Ulster and every part of Ireland, GAA is at the heart of our communities. And I really cannot commend the volunteers, coaches, families, committee members and players enough for everything they do to make clubs such special places. Go raibh maith agaibh! 👏🏻

Today I met with President Biden for the first time on our visit to the U.S, and took the opportunity to urge the President to use his influence to bring about an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The genocide of the Palestinian people must end now. I will continue to take every opportunity in the United States when meeting with political leaders to press for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the Israeli blockade on humanitarian aid and end their illegal settlements in the West Bank, and for a sovereign Palestinian state.

👏🏻 Next May, Declan Lynch can win an Assembly seat for Sinn Féin in Lagan Valley. I was delighted to attend a packed launch for Declan’s election campaign in Lisburn City Centre. The opportunity for a Sinn Féin MLA in Lagan Valley is enormous. By voting for Declan Lynch, you can make that change happen. Declan lynch

🙌🏻 I was delighted to be in Derry to see the great progress being made at Meenan Square! Once a derelict site, Meenan Square is being transformed into a first-class community resource, with new homes, businesses, and modern community facilities. This is a significant investment in the Bogside, and I will continue working to deliver more opportunities for people and communities across Derry and the North West.

🎆 Delighted that funding has been confirmed for six festivals in Derry and the North West. These festivals attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, and this funding will help them in their incredible work. Sinn Féin Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald has increased the overall funding for the festivals from last year.
