#UPDATE: #Algeria’s President Criticizes Israeli "Violation" of Somalia Sovereignty, Warns of Threat to Horn of Africa Stability Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune strongly condemned what he described as #Israel's violations against Somalia during a joint press conference held in #Ankara alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “We have expressed our indignation at the decision of the Israeli occupation to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and a threat to security and stability in the Horn of Africa region,” Tebboune said. #UPDATE: Turkey to expand military training and security support for Somalia #Turkey will continue and expand its military training, consultancy and security support to #Somalia as part of efforts to enhance international stability, Defence Ministry spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk said. Speaking at a weekly press briefing in #Ankara, Aktürk said Turkish support is focused on strengthening security and stability in Somalia. He noted that Turkey is providing assistance to protect drilling activities and the “Spaceport and Test Firing Range” under construction, as well as supporting counter-terrorism operations carried out by the Somali National Army. Aktürk said the Turkish Armed Forces will maintain a strong deterrent presence through ongoing support and deployments in Somalia. Naval elements operating in the Gulf of Aden, off the Somali coast and in the Arabian Sea have conducted port visits to #Mogadishu. A delegation from Turkey’s Naval Forces Command also recently visited Somalia to review ongoing activities and military cooperation between the two countries.

#UPDATE: Somalia’s President Arrives in #Lasaanood for Regional Inauguration Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in the city of Lasaanood, the administrative capital of the North Eastern State, where he is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of the region’s newly elected president, Abdulkadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye). The president and his delegation were preceded in Lasaanood by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, along with cabinet ministers, members of parliament, and other political figures from various federal member states. Delegations have been arriving in the city over the past several days ahead of the high-profile ceremony. Security in Lasaanood has been significantly tightened. Earlier today, the North Eastern State administration announced a 48-hour suspension of public transport entering or leaving its territories, citing enhanced security measures related to the presidential inauguration.
