This footage captures the December 29, 2024 crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216, a Boeing 737-800, at Muan International Airport in South Korea. The domestic flight departed from Jeju International Airport and was bound for Muan International Airport. During the initial approach to Muan, the aircraft suffered a dual bird strike, resulting in an engine flameout and thrust loss. The crew declared a mayday and initiated a go-around. During the subsequent emergency landing attempt, the landing gear failed to deploy, forcing the pilots to attempt a belly landing. The aircraft touched down far past the normal touchdown zone. Skidding down the runway on its engine nacelles at high speed, the aircraft overshot the runway boundary, collided with a concrete earth berm supporting the Instrument Landing System (ILS) structure, and broke apart in a massive fireball. Of the 181 people on board, 179 were killed, and two crew members survived with critical injuries.

While approaching the USS Green Bay with 26 personnel on board, the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of thrust due to heavy downwash and excess weight. The pilots applied power using the Thrust Control Lever, but they could not stop the rapid descent. The left engine nacelle struck the flight deck of the ship, and the aircraft slid across the deck before plunging 30 feet into the sea. Twenty-three personnel were rescued from the water. Three Marines were killed when the aircraft filled with water and sank. U.S. military investigators concluded that there had been no mechanical failure or pilot misconduct. The crash was caused by downwash that forced the aircraft down while it was operating near its maximum gross weight limit. Following the investigation, operating procedures and maximum landing weight limits for sea approaches were updated.

The Japan Coast Guard's De Havilland Canada Dash 8 was preparing to take off on an earthquake relief mission. However, the Coast Guard Dash 8 entered the active runway directly in the path of the landing Airbus A350. The A350 struck the smaller aircraft upon touchdown, causing both planes to burst into flames. All 379 passengers and crew members of the A350 were safely evacuated in a textbook emergency evacuation. Five of the Coast Guard Dash 8's crew members lost their lives, while the captain survived with severe injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that the Coast Guard crew believed they had been cleared to enter the runway. Meanwhile, air traffic control did not notice the runway incursion, and the JAL flight crew spotted the Dash 8 only moments before impact.

Watch this ground taxi incident involving a China Airlines Cargo Boeing 747-400F at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) on January 28, 2022, during a heavy snowstorm. While the jumbo jet was taxiing through a congested, snow- and ice-covered ramp area, it skidded and made contact with several unattended luggage/cargo carts parked along the taxi path. The aircraft's number two engine (the inner left-side engine) struck the cargo containers, causing extensive damage to the engine cowl/nacelle and fan blades. Fortunately, no ground crew or flight crew members were injured during the incident.
