Flo is a rescue dog, was going to be put down, now hunts for explosives at Wimbledon. Good dog Flo.

Am quite often asked how Olive was when Mabel arrived on the scene. Well, this has just appeared. From this day, seven years ago.

On air tonight at 6.45 on BBC1. Commentary position is down there by the Tower. Taking waterproofs.

When I’m away from the dogs I rather sadly scroll through old videos of them. That’s why you’re now looking at Olive as a puppy with a squeaky pig.

Home for a couple of nights after a lot of tennis and golf talking in the last three weeks. It seems to please them.

Dear burrowing animal experts - what might be fashioning these small holes? I don't mind, just curious as to what is working away in the garden overnight.

A Good New Year to all when it comes and may you approach 2023 with the tolerance of Olive. Or simply be more like Mabel, with her unwavering yet enormously misplaced belief in her abilities.

And yes, I know the rules. Sporting post = Olive / Mabel update. So here they are, getting on but still doing their thing. Whatever that might be.

Today is final deadline day on the latest writing project and this is mostly how it has been done over the last few months. Really couldn't have done it without their boundless energy and support.

Five years ago today I posted a video on Twitter of Olive and Mabel having breakfast, which started a strange journey - and I'm very glad they're still with me on it.

An hour and a half of this every afternoon at the moment.

Right. As part of a fundraiser, Olive and Mabel have put their paws on a work generously donated by the lovely iain welch . These are the only straight from paw to paper signatures in existence. Proof of said procedure here…

And if you're missing the dogs, I am even more. Here's the genuine sound of Mabel. Barks about twice a year, but often chatty, usually expressing concern about something.

Just one minute or so of dog descent of Y Gribin ridge this morning.

Mabel’s only special assistance skill is in offering moral support when I have manflu by requesting to be on the sofa with me.

Back from a month around the world and thought about the welcome home for much of it. They never disappoint.

Can't help noticing there's a mass exodus from Twitter. I might stick around. If only to try and provide balance with videos of dog-filming where the camera is almost lost due to over-vigorous swimming.

Labradors. The Morale Officers. Often not sure what they want or exactly why they’re happy. But they know they are happy and want you to share in their happiness if at all possible.

If I ever tweet about sport I always get asked where they are, so may as well try to combine the two subjects.

Continuing to inform my mother’s Staffie, Midge, that things really are fine now, 10 years after being rescued. Her back legs are not what they were and she has gone deaf as a post. But you can still let them know it’s all ok.

Meanwhile, ten days away from them and I continue to browse old videos on my phone as remedy. Early eye-test for Mabel.

It will never counterbalance everything else, but if I can take up two minutes of storage space on this platform with just dogs on a beach at first light, then I'm going to do that.

I didn’t plan to be watching the athletics on my phone in a hotel room in Budapest, yet that’s exactly what appears to be happening. But since it’s International Dog Day here’s Mabel showing that she lacked dignity from an early age.

Mass exodus... or influx. Ornithologists please enlighten me as to where these geese might be going, because they're flying north.

Mabel’s main aim in life is simple - carry as many things around as possible and, by so doing, let people know that you have those things.
