Fact check for Imran Riaz Khan claims that PIA was sold for just Rs10 billion , it is either deliberate misinformation or a complete disregard for facts. The successful bid for 75% of PIA’s shares was Rs135 billion, not Rs10 billion. Those repeating the Rs10 billion figure are conveniently ignoring the actual transaction details. What critics also fail to mention is that PIA had become a massive burden on Pakistan’s taxpayers, accumulating losses and liabilities of nearly Rs700 billion over the past two decades. Years of political interference, mismanagement, and inefficiency had pushed the airline to the brink. The real question is: should taxpayers have continued funding a loss-making airline indefinitely, or was it time to bring in investment, professional management, and a chance for revival? Debate the facts. Not the fiction.
