As the New York Times put it: “Among the singers, V is the lustiest and the most powerful.” Notice how Kim Taehyung's tone remains light and airy, yet carries enough brilliance, richness, and control to convey emotion without relying on the weight of chest voice or a fully developed head voice. Taehyung demonstrates excellent command of what is commonly referred to as a reinforced falsetto. In this technique, he maintains the underlying mechanism of falsetto — a register that is naturally lighter and lacks the full weight of the modal (chest) voice — while adding several elements that make the sound significantly richer and more expressive. These elements include: • Greater vocal fold closure (adduction), creating increased glottal compression and reducing the excessive breathiness typically associated with pure falsetto. • Efficient breath support, with well-controlled subglottal pressure, providing stability, sustain, and precise control over the vocal production. • Resonance adjustments, including the use of twang and vocal tract shaping, which enhance projection, brightness, and vocal presence. The result is a vocal production that preserves the lightness and delicacy of falsetto while gaining considerably more body, focus, and power. Rather than sounding overly breathy or fragile, the voice projects with remarkable clarity and sustain, effortlessly filling a stadium while retaining its ethereal, velvety quality. #Kimtaehyung #Taehyung #V #BTSV

I remember that in all the OT7 interviews at the beginning of the Arirang promotions, the members, without exception, credited Kim Taehyung with creating “Into the Sun,” as did the track's producers. They also shared that the most memorable moment of the songwriting camp was with Tae, while he created the melody and the producers spontaneously added harmonies. Even Bang PD and Pdogg gave Taehyung credit for the song's creation. “Into the Sun” quickly became one of the most acclaimed songs on the album, both by critics and the public. The connection is surreal, just as the song went viral after Tae's choreography. Seeing him technically and artistically expressing emotional release from beginning to end of the track on this tour connects me deeply with the song. In this excerpt, Tae, at his melodic climax or culminating point, creates an ascending melody with a crescendo (F4 - G4 - A4) with projection and a full/rich voice 🫠🤌🏽 GENIUS COMPOSER TAEHYUNG #KimTaehyung #V #Taehyung #BTSV

V TYPE 非: What Does Kim Taehyung's Creative Direction Mean? The announcement of the V TYPE 非 photobook highlighted a detail that defines the significance of this work: the artist actively participated in every stage, “from planning to photography.” But what does this mean in practice? A Creative Director is responsible for conceiving, organizing, and guiding the artistic vision of a project. Their role is not to technically execute all the steps, but to define the “why,” the “how,” and the “what for” of each aesthetic and narrative choice. They act as a true ARCHITECT OF IDEAS, ensuring that concept, image, narrative, and emotion work together. They ensure that the project has soul, identity, and coherence, aligning all the professionals involved — photographers, designers, stylists, costume designers, set designers, and editors — in a single creative direction. IN GENERAL, KIM TAEHYUNG: • Created the central concept • Defined the visual and emotional narrative • Established artistic and symbolic references (art, fashion, cinema, photography, music, architecture, etc.) • Guided the aesthetic language (atmosphere, light, palette, rhythm, textures) • Determined the tone of the project (intimate, experimental, documentary, symbolic) • Established the visual rhythm: order of images, pauses, silences • Guided framing, expressions, poses, and atmospheres • Coordinated and aligned the creative teams • Ensured coherence and identity from beginning to end • Conceived the Photobook as an artistic object: paper, cover, typography, weight, and texture. Taehyung is the guardian of the artistic vision. The result is a cohesive visual discourse, where each image exists for a reason. THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR IN THE PHOTOBOOK EXHIBITION In the exhibition, the creative director expands the photobook into physical space, transforming it into an immersive experience. The purpose is not just to show photos: it's to make the public traverse the concept. HERE, KIM TAEHYUNG ACTS IN: • Curating the exhibited images • Defining the public's path • Building the spatial narrative (beginning, climax, ending) • Dialogue between images, space, light, and silence • Choosing formats, sizes, and layouts • Integrating sensory elements (sound, text, architecture, rhythm) • Ensuring that the exhibition preserves the original concept of the photobook. In a market where many artists merely lend their image, Taehyung reaffirms his role as an author. “TYPE 非” is not just a record of his image, it is the materialization of his artistic sensibility. It is the signature of someone who not only participates in the work — he builds the work. In a photobook and its exhibition, Kim Tarhyung directs the experience, the reading, and the memory that the public will take with them. V TYPE 非 IS COMING!!! #V_TYPE非

It's beautiful to hear Kim Taehyung's ability to transition between low, medium, and high registers, alternating between different tones, vocal techniques, and dynamics, delivering all of this on stage with grace and technical control, expressiveness, interpretation, and style. Taehyung, who possesses the widest vocal range and tessitura in BTS, goes from a C3 (dense edge register/chest voice, in “Love me Again”) to an E5 (flageolet register/thin edge, in “My Universe”), without tension or excessive vocal effort. His voice exhibits the strength and range of both vocal categories (baritone ↔ tenor). Technically, what allows Taehyung to explore these vocal possibilities is his vocal range and tessitura. He is what we call a “BARITENOR”. A baritenor is a type of male voice that combines characteristics of a baritone and a tenor, possessing a vocal tessitura that transitions between the low register of a baritone and the high register of a tenor, but with a generally darker, fuller, and richer timbre than that of a typical tenor. #KimTaehyung #V #Taehyung

BREATH CONTROL & TONAL MEMORY Beyond being an incredibly fun and creative moment of interaction with the audience, Kim Taehyung demonstrates excellent breath control, strong support technique, vocal confidence — and, of course, remarkable tonal memory. ❝ Tonal memory is the cognitive ability to store, retain, and mentally recall specific pitch frequencies (musical notes). ❞ When Taehyung challenges the crowd to sustain the “Vegas” chant, his musical instinct naturally settles into E-flat. FUN FACTS: We know that Taehyung studies Jazz, plays the saxophone, and is a lover of R&B, Soul, Gospel, Blues, and Classical music. → In Jazz, E-flat is one of the most favored keys. This is largely due to practical reasons connected to wind instruments. Many of the most iconic jazz instruments, such as the alto saxophone and baritone saxophone, are tuned in E-flat. → In Soul, R&B, and Gospel, E-flat is considered a legendary key. Because of its velvety texture and how beautifully it resonates with both brass arrangements and vocal performances, it has become the primary choice for countless ballads and classic songs. → In Piano Blues, Jazz-Blues, Jump Blues, and Brass Bands, E-flat is extremely natural and widely used. Many classic blues songs and jazz-blues standards are written in E-flat. → Great composers of the Classical and Romantic periods, such as Beethoven, loved composing in E-flat major because they considered it a heroic, rich, and powerful key. Since the late 18th century, E-flat major has been associated with: • Heroism • Majesty • Grandeur • Brilliance and sonic richness VEGAS V NO CHILL VIVA LAS TAEHYUNG #V_WORLDTOUR_ARIRANG_VEGAS_D3 #TAEHYUNG_WORLDTOUR_ARIRANG

Meanwhile, in the THV Universe, Kim Taehyung is reaching a new audience: “Ah, that's it. I didn't expect it to be so quick... Six minutes. It didn't feel like a six-minute song. I could have watched it forever. It was great. I'll definitely check out more of V now that I know what he's like.” In today's Music Map ⓥ Shorts, we have this “Supreme Jodi Reacts” reactor, completely surprised and shocked by Taehyung's musical and vocal identity, and who wasn't expecting a jazz song or a jazz artist as he expressed: “This is almost mind-blowing. I wasn't expecting anything like this. His voice is great. Oh my God. I'm blown away, shocked by this. He has a really deep voice. And this song is in English. Wow! This is... and the video really suits the song. I thought this song was really good. A really amazing song from V. I don't have a jazz playlist, but I'm going to start one just to get V in there, because it was amazing. A really great voice. He does it so well. Like, it sounds so good it gives me goosebumps. The video was amazing.” And this new listener's journey is just beginning. He expressed: “I hope I can start nominating him more often. Hmm, we'll see if all his songs are like that, but if they are, he's definitely gained a new fan, because I love jazz. I think I saw someone in the comments once say that he also likes R&B, so he's my thing.” First Time Hearing “Winter Ahead” by V from BTS | I Am Shocked! 🔗 KIM TAEHYUNG #KimTaehyung #V #Taehyung #김태형 #WinterAhead #Jazz #jazzmusic #jazzsong

Different “colors” of voices in the same group. These crucial points, highlighted by singing teacher Márcio Guerra, are precisely the difference in how Kim Taehyung positions his larynx, using resonances to produce higher notes, and sounding in a way that doesn't convey tension or stiffness in his voice. To produce high notes, Jin raises his larynx significantly and also predominantly directs his voice toward rhinopharyngeal resonance (behind the nose), unlike Tae, who predominantly uses oral resonance. Resulting sonority: Laryngeal tightness: The voice sounds tense, compressed, metallic, and narrow, with less body. This occurs when the larynx is pressed rigidly, without freedom of movement. The result is: • Compressed sound, without resonance; • A feeling of effort or “closed throat”; • Lack of space in the vocal tract (pharynx, mouth) for sound amplification. Elevated larynx: The timbre tends to become brighter, higher-pitched, and “squeezed,” losing depth and bass. Predominant rhinopharyngeal resonance: The voice takes on a pronounced nasal quality, as if the sound were trapped in or behind the “nose.” Singing with rhinopharyngeal dominance creates the sensation of a stuffy nose, but with a higher-pitched, strident projection. Note that in most songs, Jin's voice sounds as if he has a stuffy nose or a cold, and his voice is “very tight,” with no room to project, even when reaching high notes. These techniques are one of the reasons why in BTS songs, even with all four vocalists singing the same notes and melodies, Tae makes it sound like it's not that high-pitched or easy, while the others sound like they're hitting higher notes and are “trying.” #voice #Vocals #KimTaehyung #V In the video, an example of singing teacher Marcio Guerra mapping the technical difference between Taehyung and Jin.

Halsey raised some questions in her interview with Zane Lowe: “What artists are doing the numbers I'm doing with an experimental concept album?” I ask the same question about Tae: “Which artists, both in the K-pop industry and in the industry in general, without the support of high-impact collaborations, aggressive campaigns, or significant placements on official playlists, radio stations, or major international promotion, can achieve the same numbers as Taehyung?” And I add: “Not only without such tools, but also facing explicit sabotage from their own agency?” Where should I begin? With BH restricting Layover performances or trying to prevent them from being posted on YouTube? Or when they planted thousands of negative comments about the album in an attempt to influence public opinion? With BH, sales were canceled. There were delays and stocks ran out. Links? A mess. No CD. One version. Vinyl? It arrived a year later, with BH requiring retailers not to display vinyl on their shelves until the end of the Billboard tracking week. Kim Taehyung's trajectory on Spotify is no longer just numerical, but symbolic. Surpassing 5.1 billion streams on Spotify across all his credits and selling over 5.1 million units worldwide of his album “Layover,” in a scenario where most artists rely heavily on exposure generated by algorithms and mass marketing, makes Kim Taehyung a model of organic and sustainable consumption. Contrary to conventional streaming dynamics, Kim Taehyung has become an artist capable of building a solid musical identity, generating lasting global engagement, reflecting the strength of his unique artistic identity. 👀 CURIOSITY: Did you know that Baritones reach higher notes than Tenors? When Baritones change registers, the vocal extension in the “vocal fold edge/thin edge” (thinner, elongated vocal folds) is higher pitched than Tenors. Baritones change registers and are able to achieve much more volume and projection and ascend higher than Tenors. Have you ever noticed Kim Taehyung's ability to transition from low to mid-range to high-range, alternating registers, resources, and vocal dynamics? Technically, what allows Taehyung to explore these vocal possibilities is his vocal range and tessitura. He's what we call a “BARITENOR.” A baritenor is a male voice type that combines characteristics of both a baritone and a tenor, possessing a vocal tessitura that transitions between the lower register of a baritone and the higher register of a tenor, but with a timbre that is generally darker, heavier, and fuller than that of a typical tenor. It is not an official, rigid vocal classification like tenor, baritone, or bass, but rather a hybrid subtype used in vocal pedagogy and musical theater. The term describes voices that have the typical color and weight of a baritone but can also reach high tenor notes with consistency and projection. In other words, it is a voice that transitions between the two ranges (baritone ↔ tenor), adapting to the repertoires of both, but which also presents the strength and range of both vocal categories.

Kim Taehyung: The Voice that Transcended K-Pop “Perhaps that's why so many feel that listening to Kim Taehyung is like touching the past and, at the same time, the future of music. His voice doesn't belong solely to K-Pop, nor even just to the present — it belongs to the eternity of everything that has soul.” What can we say about a young artist who stood out from the start due to his unique tone, versatility, and emotional depth? In the K-Pop industry, marked by uniform vocal aesthetics, Kim Taehyung's voice has stood out as a singular force. From short vocal lines that add emotional weight to BTS's tracks, to solo songs within the group, originals, OSTs, covers, and his debut album “Layover,” with his deep timbre, technical versatility, and powerful emotional charge, Taehyung has broken the barriers of the genre and established himself as one of the most authentic voices in the contemporary music scene, becoming a landmark that transcends K-Pop. While he already stood out within the genre for breaking with the molded vocal uniformity, his voice has now transcended those boundaries and has been recognized as one of the most original, emotional, and authentic voices in the entire global music industry. This distinction is widely acknowledged by the industry, music professionals, critics, and the public. Unlike the standard response to other K-pop names, where performance analysis or typical, standardized visuals predominate, reactions to Taehyung focus on his musicality, his voice, and his unique presence, with authenticity and mastery. Many highlight the feeling of revisiting the best eras of music, evoking references to great artists and established styles, all to describe the feeling of listening to him. The versatility of his voice is another determining factor. Taehyung can transition between jazz, soul, R&B, classic pop, blues, and acoustic ballads without losing his identit — on the contrary, he imprints his signature on each genre. Instead of adapting to the style, he allows the style to mold itself to him. This ability places him in a rare category: that of performers who transform each song into a unique experience, with soul and authenticity. Kim Taehyung, more than a singer, has become an artistic reference, inspiring critics, reenactors, and listeners to see in him a living link between the present and the memory of the great names who shaped the history of music. Taehyung's voice touches, inspires, and leaves its mark, as only the greatest names in music history can. The Voice that Carries Soul: “There are voices that are heard, and there are voices that are felt.” Kim Taehyung's is that rare voice that penetrates the ear and settles in memory, skin, and soul. His vocal presence is a departure from the norm. While many sound shaped by effects or trends, Taehyung sings as if revealing hidden truths. Each musical genre takes on new colors when it passes through his timbre. Each genre, each era, becomes its own. The audience's reaction on YouTube is a clear reflection of this impact. Reviewers from different countries and backgrounds are immediately captivated by Taehyung's timbre. Unable to react to him in the usual way, they always connect Taehyung to the times when “singing was about transmitting soul.” It's as if his voice were a key that unlocks collective memories of music in its purest form. They explore technical terms, draw comparisons with great artists of the past, seek poetic explanations for what they felt, and describe his voice as something soulful. Many highlight how his vocal interpretation harks back to the golden age of music, evoking memories of times when artists imprinted truth and identity in every note, feeling their music layered. #KimTaehyung #V #Taehyung #music #musicvideo #musician #song #voice #Jazz #jazzmusic #soul #artist #soulmusic #rnb #blues #rnbartist #rnbmusic
