No one threw a shoe at the president. If you watch the video closely, someone was holding their shoes when a person behind them, frustrated by the obstruction, angrily knocked the shoes out of their hand, accidentally hitting the president. The president should forgive them; it was an accident.

Lynn Ngugi has done the Lord’s work on her YouTube channel. Like I have always said, I hope one day we’ll be bold and open-minded enough to candidly discuss how Uhuru’s loans are currently harming the economy. Many loans didn’t reach Kenya and were diverted to offshore accounts. Uhuru benefited from Kibaki’s low debt, enabling heavy borrowing. Most of Uhuru’s loans, from the Eurobond to the SGR, are maturing under this regime. I have never been happy with how Mr Aura is always painted as a saint, yet he’s the reason why we’re here economically.

This video raises a lot of questions about what usually goes through the mind of an average voter when they choose a presidential candidate. Do we vote to get a larger share of government resources, or do we vote because we want better governance and services, since we all pay taxes? The belief that we vote just to secure a bigger piece of the pie is why we turn bitter when development projects go to areas that didn’t vote for the government. Above all, when you’re used to privileges like coffee waivers, tea waivers, etc., equality starts to feel like oppression.

I have never agreed with Morara on many issues, but on this one I 100% agree with him: most of us have no problem with corruption itself, we have a problem with the fact that the corrupt leaders are not from our community and we're not benefiting from it. Tribalism is the elephant in the room.

Kenya is set to pay KSh 3.9 billion to CAF to host AFCON 2027. Hosting a major sporting event like AFCON is a dream for most countries, but my only concern is whether it actually makes financial sense. How much money will we really make from hosting it? More than 3.9 billion? I seriously doubt it. Even big football nations like Brazil still suffer economically years after hosting major events. They spent heavily on new stadiums and infrastructure for the 2014 World Cup, only for most of them to be abandoned afterwards. Qatar still has several top-class stadiums sitting unused after the 2022 World Cup. I have no problem with Kenya hosting AFCON , my only question is: does it make any financial sense?
