Good detail: dado in your LED strip lighting under open shelves for continuous light under cabinets! We like doing open shelves at a corner bc: - makes walls less heavy - avoids awkward bifold door and lost storage at corner - ties kitchen materials together (lowers are wood, to match this shelf) - provides easy access for items like cookbooks, Sonos speaker, favorite mugs, and/or stuff you want to display And why is there a bump up on the counter? That's a story for another post...but it's a cool solve for a thorny issue that comes up a lot in renovations! (One of our renovation projects in an 1850s house in Boston, almost done! Sound on for random GC commentary...)

Want to see how I found a way to make a 1 bed/1 bath into a 2 bed/2 bath? I explain it here! If you're in the design phases of a building, and you think you can get more and/or better units, or you feel like there's wasted space, you might be right. Not every architect is good at laying out floorplans. It happens to be my superpower 💪 I do this for clients as their architect, and on a consulting basis...and I love it! I've never met a floorplan I couldn't unlock...there's always a way to make it better!
