UPDATE: Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Umunnato (Alayi, Bende LGA). Construction of the new 100-bed tertiary facility is ongoing by the Gov. Otti-led admin. The former Umunnato General Hospital (established 1962 and abandoned for nearly 40 years) was completely demolished. Groundbreaking took place on 28 May 2026. The hospital will serve as the referral centre for Abia North Senatorial District. Completion is targeted within 9–12 months (first half of 2027). Construction progress remains satisfactory as of August 2026. #InvestInAbia #VisitAbia

ANNOUNCEMENT: All public motor transport activities within the Umuahia city center must now coalesce and operate from the Bus Terminal in an organized manner. As soon as all of them have been captured and removed from the roads sides and indiscriminate parks, the acceptable minimum standards will be applied to weed out substandard and unworthy vehicles and unwholesome practices from our transport system in Abia. No more rickety vehicles, no more aka n’elu, no more opportunities for one chance criminals. If you must operate a transport service in Abia, you must be ready to adhere to standards and invest properly. It will be a big offense to load and offload passengers or operate transport services anywhere outside the designated bus stops and the terminal. Abia must transform into a 21st century economy in all sectors. #InvestInAbia

UPDATE: The Enyimba Economic City (EEC) project may have suffered delays due to legal disputes and bureaucratic inefficiencies but it's a good thing now that the admin of Gov. Alex Otti has beamed it's giant searchlight on this landmark project in order to give it the push it deserves. It is our hope that the newly reconstituted board will do all it they can to get to full speed and bring this project into a momentum that will see it's full actualization.
