EMOTIONALLY-CHARGED: Chaos erupted outside Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court this afternoon after Abner Matheus - alleged mastermind of the death of late prosecutor Justine Shiweda - requested a health break during proceedings in the bail application of his nephew, Petrus Shikwaya. As Matheus was escorted out of the courtroom to wash his face, several relatives of Shiweda broke down in tears and confronted him. Shiweda’s sisters were heard questioning Matheus about why he allegedly targeted their “innocent sister”. “Why did you do this to our sister? She did nothing to you,” they cried. The confrontation prompted police officers to intervene. Officers quickly ushered Matheus away from the scene and escorted him to safety. VIDEO: TUYEIMO HAUFIKU

JUST IN: Absalom Isack, an uncle to the late David Mbinda, who was allegedly shot by Asser Nendongo (30) at a bar in Wanaheda, says the family — particularly Mbinda’s parents — are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their son. “David was simply doing his job. He has left behind children; one is under a year old. How will they cope? They have lost a father,” Isack questioned. The family has also expressed concern over the continued operation of the bar where Mbinda was shot, saying it remains open and running. “This case is fresh. When we drove by before we came to court, people were drinking, trampling over Mbinda’s blood. Is that right?” Nendongo made his first appearance today in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder after handing himself over to the police following the shooting last Friday in Windhoek.
