I waited until I had tolerance to watch HAQ, wanting to feel safer about being born a hindu female. I started this afternoon, pushed past the overly rosy and fake first 10 minutes, and kept watching and soon enough the oppression, helplessness and unfair sub-human treatment of women under !slam made me want to turn it off. But then remembered, under the Modi govt we’ve already bypassed this bidet-ish draconian part of Muslim personal law by criminalisation of Triple Talaq. It's a humble request to the women of islamic faith to carefully watch this movie and rethink about the plight of women then to the freedom now.
