The Orion Spacecraft spacecraft, which recently traveled around the Moon on Artemis I, is now back at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The spacecraft arrived at the Multi-Payload Processing Facility (MPPF) at approximately 4:15 p.m. today.

ICYMI Last week, mobile launcher 2 gained more height with the addition of tower module 6! This launcher is designed to support multiple configurations of ARCHIVED: NASA_SLS for NASA Artemis missions, including Block 1B crew and cargo missions to the Moon.

Hitting the road 🚙🗺️ Last weekend, teams transported Orion Spacecraft to the Multi-Payload Processing Facility, where they will begin fueling the crew and service modules. After fueling, teams will install the launch abort system on Orion at the Launch Abort System Facility before heading to the Vehicle Assembly Building to be stacked atop ARCHIVED: NASA_SLS.

After moving the ARCHIVED: NASA_SLS core stage north in the Vehicle Assembly Building transfer aisle, teams began lifting it with two of the facility’s overhead cranes, reorienting it into a vertical position. This is called a “breakover.”

ICYMI Last week, teams with Exploration Ground Systems completed stacking of the NASA Artemis II ARCHIVED: NASA_SLS solid rocket boosters by integrating the forward assemblies. These 177-foot-tall and 12-foot-wide boosters will provide 3.5 million pounds of thrust each during launch.
