Since Ryan Zeferjahn joined the Cubs, he's lost 1.3" of vertical break on his 4-Seamer, and slug against it has risen by .433 in August compared to last month. Why is this happening? No idea! No noticeable difference in grip, release position, velocity, or even raw spin rate. I wonder if the differences in barometric pressure, air density, or elevation between Angel Stadium and Wrigley are hurting the shape (pure guess, would love to hear others' thoughts). Or it's just natural fluctuation of the shape and this is an overreaction to small samples :)

I've seen Emerson Hancock mocked to the Cubs a handful of times, and I would be strongly opposed to this deal. Looking past the ERA, he has league average K%, gives up a lot of barrels and hard contact, and has mediocre stuff. Hancock definitely benefits from T-Mobile Park, playing the flat approach game with the 4S up in the zone, and it's been punished considerably less than it should be.
