Since Ryan Zeferjahn joined the Cubs, he's lost 1.3" of vertical break on his 4-Seamer, and slug against it has risen by .433 in August compared to last month. Why is this happening? No idea! No noticeable difference in grip, release position, velocity, or even raw spin rate. I wonder if the differences in barometric pressure, air density, or elevation between Angel Stadium and Wrigley are hurting the shape (pure guess, would love to hear others' thoughts). Or it's just natural fluctuation of the shape and this is an overreaction to small samples :)
