When I watched the Ecuador coach celebrate so passionately after his team's victory over Germany yesterday, I was reminded of a profound truth often associated with Napoleon Hill: "The most powerful mastermind alliance a man will ever form is in his marriage. A woman, rightly chosen, aligned in vision, and honored in spirit, can make a man unbreakable. But a woman wrongly chosen or unaligned in purpose will drain him of vision, strip him of confidence, and sentence him to spiritual poverty. Many men fall not because of failure in business, but because of conflict in the home. They rise with vision only to have it mocked. They speak with clarity only to have it questioned. They act with courage only to be met with resistance. This is not partnership. This is war. And a man at war with his household cannot build peace outside of it. But when a woman supports a man's purpose, when she believes in his destiny, when she reflects his greatness before the world sees it, that woman becomes the mastermind in motion. Her energy fuels him. Her intuition sharpens him. Her peace steadies him. Her presence becomes a sanctuary. And the man with that kind of partner is dangerous to every limitation. You must choose this alliance with wisdom. And if you are already in one, you must train it, not ignore it. Share your aim. Speak your plan. Invite her insight. Draw strength from her spirit. Once upon a time, my daughter came back from school and said, “Daddy, I can play the saxophone.” I burst out laughing. “Daddy, be serious now,” she insisted. I looked at her and joked, “You and the saxophone, who will carry who?” I teased her. “OK, show me.” The following day she brought the saxophone from school and actually played a nice tune. “Wow! Your music teacher has done well. Please bring him to me,” I said. The next day, I saw the music teacher. I first dashed him some money and asked, “Now, how much will you collect to continue teaching her?” Then my other daughter also said she could play the violin 🎻. “Alright then.” All the children are now involved. The school was directly opposite my house. Finally, the piano I bought in 2012 now had a job to do. So we started practice in November and December 2019, and the children were progressing. One day, I was deep in thought: What if the children stopped going to school for like two months so they can learn this music properly? A time when there will be no school assignments. Well, that prayer was answered. In January 2020, I was sacked from work, and by March the world was shut down due to COVID-19. I did not really like the idea that it was closed because of a pandemic. I used part of my severance package from the bank to buy musical instruments. During the lockdown, the music teacher only needed to cross the canal to our house in Aguda. For six months we rehearsed and rehearsed. I would promise the children financial gain if they got any song right. That was their motivation then, and they performed excellently well. Welcome to day 44 of the 100 day Art Challenge. Today I will be honouring my mentor, Mr. Tony Elumelu with this art work. Do you know there is a template to greatness? I learnt so many things from him, but here are just seven lessons I learnt after working closely with him for many years: 1️⃣ Always be prepared – notebook, pen, full attention. Write everything down. Write your goals, etc. 2️⃣ Use your imagination – dare to dream far ahead of your present reality. 3️⃣ Obsession with details – excellence is never accidental. 4️⃣ He rewards people especially staff– birthdays, gifts, special events. 5️⃣ Eye for talent – “I have no special talent, I surround myself with great people.” 6️⃣ Voracious reader – leaders are readers. 7️⃣ Preparation meeting opportunity creates greatness. Greatness is deliberate. Not accidental.
