COLUMBIA, S.C. — Clinging to a two-point lead and looking to avoid a penalty on a field goal attempt, Phillip Fulmer burned a timeout on fourth-and-1 with 6:25 left against South Carolina in 2002. Tennessee opted to go for it, instead. Casey Clausen delivered with a 5-yard touchdown run—the final score in the Vols’ 18-10 win over the Gamecocks at Williams-Bruce Stadium. It was the 100th win of Fulmer’s coaching career.

PASADENA, Calif. (Sept. 9, 1989) — Sterl The Pearl® opened the way for Tennessee’s 24-6 win over No. 6 UCLA with a 2-yard touchdown run at the Rose Bowl. It was the Vols’ first-ever score at the Rose Bowl. They were shut out twice there by Southern Cal in 1940 and 1945.

Seventh-ranked Tennessee led comfortably late against No. 13 Louisville at Neyland Stadium in 1993, but had one knockout blow left when Nilo Silvan took the ball from Corey Fleming on a reverse punt return for a touchdown to put the finishing touch on a 45-10 victory.
