At this point, based on the actual numbers, it's pretty clear some of the big Xbox fan accounts on Twitter, are orders of magnitude more toxic in their volume of console war negativity, over any other platforms. Whilst at work I figured I'd do some analysis on the numbers, since opinions/perception is one thing, hard data/numbers another. In terms of three PlayStation centric accounts to compare that are repeatedly brought up by Xbox fans or had the most comparable day one negativity: Most negative Starfield timeline tweets in a single day: Red Dragon - 7 KingThrash - 4 (all his own gameplay) JayDub - 3 Most negative Spider-Man 2 timeline tweets in a single day: JayRock - 82 PeterOvo - 43 The BlackViking3 - 33 Some trolling and negativity is typical within the community, but the sheer volume of obsessive vitriol coming out of some of these Xbox accounts, is unprecedented and bordering mental health concerns. And going by most negativity in a single day for these games, as a barometer to measure degree of obsessive toxicity, the Xbox fan accounts here are 1030% more vitriolic in console war contributions, and frankly in an entirely different league that's not even comparable. The incessant nature strikes me as extreme propagandist, genuinely insane behaviour. Pretty staggering difference when you think about it, and an eye opener in discussions around which big platform centric Twitter accounts, are the most toxic with console warring.

Chris Dring reports Circana's Q1 2026 consumer survey found the number one reason people buy consoles is for EXCLUSIVES. The importance of quality exclusives to sell systems is something I've discussed many times and that data has always corroborated, contrary to the false narratives of so many ignorant fans. Many gaming consumers may spend more time playing multiplatform live service games, but exclusives are the primary differentiator for choosing one platform over another, to play those MP games. Not the brand, hardware perfomance, price, or digital library, but EXCLUSIVES. In response to me saying Ghost of Yotei has the most "majestic and beautiful" horse riding in gaming, some said Red Dead Redemption 2 tops it. Realism alone doesn't equate to the above. RDR2's a stunning game, but its horse riding can be rather sterile in comparison to Yotei. It doesn't have near the same artistry, colour, vibrancy, mass flocks of animals, lush foliage, wide angle and cinematic in gameplay camera, aggressive weather/wind dynamics, as many effects, particles, the DualSense feedback and so on. There's a reason I listed Zelda and Shadow of the Colossus in my top examples. Again, it's about so much more than just realistic graphics, animations, or horse balls lol. It's a culmination of all these other components that come together to make something feel so much more majestic and beautiful, and it's why Yotei clears RDR2 in said areas. SpawnWave confirms #PlayStation have pulled a Don Mattrick special with a new online check-in every 30 days, to play newly purchased digital games (though it doesn't affect physical reselling, sharing or ownership, nor have a daily check in like OG Xbox One DRM attempted). If the 30 days lapse, you don't lose the licence, but have to re-connect to the Internet in order to play. It does not impact digital or physical games purchased before the update. NikTek spoke to a human customer service rep confirming the DRM, but others have posted numerous convos with support, including reportedly people, who said no such DRM check in has been implemented. Either way, whether this a bug or not, it needs to be reversed immediately. Link to full video.

Path Tracing on PS5 Pro even as a demo and at 30fps, pretty much confirms at least some games will use PT on PS6, which I said months ago but some said I was crazy for suggesting. PC gamers won't want to admit it, but next-gen the gap between console and higher end PC may shrink in terms of real world differences, bolstered by more competent RT and AI upscaling tech in the next-gen consoles. Keep in mind Valve already confirmed what Steam data already showed, that "the steam machine is equal or better than ~70% of what people have at home", and the Steam Machine is reportedly similar in perfomance to the BASE PS5. In regards to PT in F1 on PS5 Pro, I say drop the base resolution further (there's examples of PSSR 2 looking great even at 864p) and give us 40fps or higher. Also, this is a reason the future/RDNA4 RT tech and custom AI hardware in PS5 Pro was noteworthy. The "2-3x" PS5's RT performance Cerny quoted clearly wasn't just PR bluster. Outside of this demo, it's already allowing WAY better RT than PS5 in some games (Cyberpunk, F1, AC Shadows etc), with better image quality and/or perfomance to boot. Such demo's show there's potentially more to extract, especially for quality modes. #PS5Pro #PS6
