A Tesla Cybercab without a steering wheel or pedals drove us for 30 minutes on a pretty busy Thursday night in Austin, TX. This 4.7-mile ride cost me only $9.62. Starting tomorrow at 5 PM, anyone in Austin, TX can hail a Cybercab for themselves. Nothing can compare to this.

This is the sound of the all-electric Tesla Semi. Deliveries of the new Production Version begin this year: • Long Range model has 500 miles of range with a full payload. • 1.7 kWh per mile efficiency (average diesel semis are roughly 5–7 kWh per mile equivalent energy use). • Tri-motor powertrain with 800 kW of power (~1,073 hp), 3x the power of the average diesel semi. • The battery in the Semi is designed to last 1M miles. • Standard Range model (325 mi) has a similar turning radius as a Tesla Model 3/Y. • 0.4 drag coefficient. • Independent truckers are able to buy a Semi for use, not just fleet owners. • Semi fleet uptime is at 95% due to extremely low maintenance and reliability. • Integrated safety features in the Semi protect not just the driver but others on the road as well. • Future wireless charging. • Semi uses the same 4680 battery cells found in the Cybertruck. • Semi can power a whole refrigeration trailer or any powered unit. The technology is shared with Cybertruck Powershare.

Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s VP of AI on Tesla’s autonomy approach during the Cybercab Launch Event: “Along the way, every "expert" in the field told us you cannot build a safe self-driving vehicle with just cameras. They said you you needed radars, you needed HD maps, and everything else to drive the car safely. We at Tesla have never believed in this. We always thought the core issue for self-driving is one of intelligence. You need to understand what is going on, you need to predict what is going to happen in the future, and no sensor in the world is going to tell you what's going to happen in the future. It is something an intelligent agent is going to have to figure out what is going to happen in the future and act accordingly to achieve safety. That is why we have bet on an Al first end-to-end driving stack that takes in camera images from all around the car, constantly paying attention and is solving for one thing, which is driving you safely. How do we know this is possible? Because humans drive around all day long using cameras. It is not something that we invented, it's already there, we just needed to find a way to put it in a digital computer. And that's what we believe we have built.”

The Tesla Cybertruck is the ONLY pickup truck (Gas or Electric) to be awarded IIHS Top Safety Pick+ in 2026 For 2026, IIHS safety rules have become even tougher. Cybertruck is the only truck in its category to be awarded the highest honor. 🦾 Congrats Tesla Engineering Teams!

Tonight, Sawyer Merritt and I spent over an hour riding Tesla Cybercabs around Austin. The most incredible thing is that throughout our conversations, a car without a steering wheel or pedals effortlessly navigated us to our destination with absolutely zero issues. The rides were perfect. Cybercab creates a beautiful atmosphere where people can have great conversations without worrying about what’s going on around them, or even a place to get work done in peace or take a quick nap if needed. The absence of a steering wheel turning creates a more serene environment, since you aren’t seeing a wheel move around and distracting you. This truly feels authentic. Zero road rage, zero stress about where or what is happening, just living in the moment. Cybercab truly changes what transportation should feel like. As the ride was ending we had a moment where it felt so surreal. We live in the best times.

This is what it looks like under the hood of a Tesla Cybercab. That white reservoir at the bottom left holds fluid for the wipers and pressurized camera-cleaning system. Every exterior camera on Cybercab has its own dedicated washer. The entire front of the car is completed before mating to the other segments during production using the unboxed method. It will allow Tesla to scale to a Cybercab cycle time of ~10s or less. This method will change the landscape of automotive production forever. In the video, that is exactly how the car is produced at the factory. All those pieces are assembled, then mated together to complete the final product. I had the pleasure of talking to one of the engineers responsible for helping create the unboxed method, it was really awesome.

This was my favorite moment from Elon, Franz, and Lars yesterday. Elon: "I’ll tell you something, maybe at a fundamental level why the Model S/X succeeded, which is that, those cars were designed with love." Lars: "Absolutely." Elon: "That would be my advice for people out there who are making products or providing services, is do something that you truly love. Your customers will feel that love." Anyone who owns a Tesla knows exactly what he means.

Elon Musk on how Optimus will provide access to the best medical care for anyone in the world: “Imagine a world where everyone has access to the best surgeons, literally everyone. And Optimus will have the level of precision that is frankly superhuman and will be able to do medical procedures, very sophisticated medical procedures, any medical procedure, perhaps things that humans can't even do because they're too difficult, and that will be available to anyone. People often talk about eliminating poverty and providing great medical care, but they never actually have a solution. Money doesn't solve it, because there are only so many, there's a very limited number of great doctors and surgeons, they don't grow on trees. But now they all get built in factories.”

Elon Musk in a new interview on which of his businesses he is most excited about: “Well, I think that there’s increasingly a convergence, actually, between SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI, in that if the future is solar-powered AI satellites—which it pretty much needs to be in order to harness a non-trivial amount of the energy of the Sun—you have to move to solar-powered AI satellites in deep space. That is somewhat a confluence of Tesla expertise, SpaceX expertise, and xAI on the AI front. So, it does feel like, over time, there’s somewhat of a convergence there. But all the companies are doing great things. Very proud of the teams that do great work.”

Taking my FIRST EVER ride in a Tesla Cybercab! No steering wheel, no pedals. This was one of the most surreal moments of my life. The powered-butterfly doors auto-present when you walk up to it, and you can easily identify your Cybercab by the RGB lighting inside and out. IT DRIVES INCREDIBLY SMOOTH. It feels VERY solid, and it’s so quiet. The interior is next level, the amount of legroom is honestly ridiculous. By reclining the seats you can pretty much lie down in the car. The 21” screen is so crisp, watching videos on it is WILD. Best in-car UI experience you can have bar none, it’s not even close. MASSIVE congratulations to the entire Tesla team involved in creating this absolutely beautiful product. You guys are shaping the future. THANK YOU ❤️
