As a woman from Afghanistan and Iran, we endure imprisonment, lashings, rape, being blinded, execution, and constant terror simply because I seek freedom, equality, and dignity. Indeed, under the rule of the Taliban and the Islamic regime in Iran, being a woman is perceived as a crime. My heart aches for my people, who are going through unimaginable pain and suffering. The herat earthquake has left 14 members of his family trapped under the ruins, including a 5-day-old newborn. In the Khaja Othman area of Almar district in Faryab province,The lifeless body of a woman was found, and it was later revealed that she had been shot by the Taliban. This woman, a resident of Erzlik Qaisar, had gone missing after visiting her daughter's house, causing great distress to her family. Europe calls it gender apartheid. Yet, This week, Europe invited it to Brussels. The same EU that condemns the Taliban for crushing women just rolled out the red carpet. Leaders wanted on ICC arrest warrants, now welcomed as guests. And not one Afghan woman was invited to that table. So I’m standing at it myself. Alone in Warsaw, holding a cardboard sign, because the women they’re erasing got no seat at all. Afghan women are not a bargaining chip. Our rights are not yours to trade.
