Congressman Seth Moulton went on CNN this evening and said the state-sponsored terror that is happening in Minneapolis is worse than any state-sponsored terror during the civil rights movement. Black Americans are watching what’s happening in Minneapolis and it looks all too familiar. We recognize this hate. It is obscene that not only do Black people have to see the murder of Alex Pretti and feel centuries of trauma, but we also have to endure the disrespect of a sitting member of congress erase and belittle that very pain. What Black people have gone through is now impacting people who look like Congressman Moulton, so he thinks it’s somehow worse now. Dismissing, minimizing, and erasing the Black liberation struggle is not only offensive, it erases the very path forward for the country right now. Seth Moulton, you should be ashamed of these words.
