HyperSolar - Dreamcast Version This is the final iteration of the city stage, finally running at nearly stable 60fps. It features hexagonal buildings, ground level facades and lighting, cross-shaped trees, new traffic algorithm, lightning and thunder in the sky, audio engine overhaul and barrel rolls!! After 3 months perfecting this stage for the Dreamcast, I'll be moving on to the PlayStation 2 version next week. This video was captured on real hardware.

HyperSolar - Dreamcast Version It took me two months, but I finally completed the Cybercity stage! 🥳 I went through 4 different designs and experimented with numerous algorithms until I finally settled for the result you see here, running on real hardware, at 60 fps.

HyperSolar - Dreamcast Version So I woke up the other day and thought: What if I download New York City data from the internet and put it into my game? 😁 Crazy idea, no? Well, guess what? It worked! So, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, here’s a flyover of Manhattan!

It wouldn't be a Dreamcast game without SEGA blue skies!! Here it is running at 60fps on Flycast with an underclocked CPU! 😊

HyperSolar - PlayStation 2 I think I finally found the city aesthetic I was looking for! Look at it run at stable 60 fps on a real PS2 (hardware capture)!! What do you guys think?

In theory, a movie on the NES could look something like this. This sample is 256x144px, but ideally we would have 256x128px at 12fps. The problem is data storage. Without using aftermarket hardware, 90s mappers would support no more than a few seconds of video, maybe 30 at most.

HyperSolar - Dreamcast version Now fully running at 60fps with virtually no frame drops!! There are still a few visual improvements to be made, but I’m really happy performance wise, for the time being. Special thanks: Palmer Luckey Daniel Fairchild Falco Girgis, you guys rock!!

I'd like to thank everyone who taunted me with "the PS2 looks blurry" and pushed to pursue true 640x480p graphics on the PS2. Here's how it looks in PCSX2 software mode. Real hardware video soon. 😎

HyperSolar - Dreamcast Version Here's the city stage running on real hardware with all the algorithm and visual improvements ported from the PS2 version. The image quality is far superior on this capture because I don't have the PS2 upscaler yet. Ordered from Amazon, already.
