US Energy Secretary Chris Wright with a powerful message to Africans. In Washington DC, Chris Wright, the new administration’s energy secretary, took the stage and gave an impassioned speech on how concerns over climate change should not prevent Africa from charging ahead with fossil fuel development. “This government has no desire to tell you what you should do with your energy system,” he said. “It’s a paternalistic post-colonial attitude that I just can’t stand.” Wright said Western countries such as the United States have for years been “shamelessly” telling Africa that coal is bad and not to develop it. “That’s just nonsense, 100 percent nonsense,” he said. “Coal transformed our world and made it better, extended life expectancy and grew opportunities, and coal globally will be the largest source of electricity for decades to come. That’s not a policy, that’s not a desire, that’s just a reality.” I approved this message.

A firm believer in #DrillBabyDrill and Uganda’s right to produce its oil and gas. Elison Karuhanga is going on justice tour. His rhythmic cadence brings justice and reggae to life, making it a living thing whose force penetrated the flesh, caressing the soul and bringing chorus after chorus of shouted praise from the faithful. He makes his points in a context of respect, empathy, compassion and humility before his God, Africans and the jury. With Elison Karuhanga one sees and feels an unusual ability to move mountains through a humble sincerity and justice. The power he generates through modesty and confessions of weakness is extraordinary. Ellison has done more than can be described in terms of uplifting and improving the condition, the attitude and the circumstances under which legal professional find themselves in his community. I am just so happy that in my lifetime I have had the chance to spend some time and do some work with and interact with him. I can’t describe what he did for us all. We are all different and better people because of him. He raised the bar of expectations for African lawyers in energy. He lifted the veil of inferiority for African lawyers. Good luck my friend.
