FIRST LOOK: footage from inside Noah’s Ark Gopher drone was sent down into the core drilling holes in an attempt to reach the mapped voids. Noah’s Ark Scans Founder, Andrew Jones, was invited on to Pierce Morgan for what we were told was a friendly “interview”. Turns out, it was more like an ambush. However, the archeologist that Pierce brought on to debunk The Durupinar Site didn’t even realize that not only is the Durupinar site 300 cubits long, it’s also 50 cubits wide (85 feet). Andrew also then took down his claims that it’s just a giant rock and shape caused by mudflow. Andrew went head-to-head with the skeptics and shut them down. This just goes to show that most of the claims “debunking” the Durupinar site as the resting place of Noah’s Ark are actually the claims that have no scientific or accurate backing at all. Dr. Khosrow Bakhtar, ARSM, PE, Ph.D., is a mining/rock-mechanics engineer and electromagnetics specialist with 40+ years in geomechanics, tunneling, low-power RF/microwave sensors, and subsurface detection. He managed 25–35+ U.S. Department of Defense projects as program manager and principal investigator for the Air Force, Navy, and Defense Threat Reduction Agency. He has written over 200 papers. The first testing at what we believe could be the resting place of Noah’s Ark is officially underway. After months of radar scanning, ERT surveys, mapping, and soil sampling, the team has finally taken the next major step: drilling. It’s been a long road to reach this point, and watching that drill turn for the first time was an incredible moment. Now comes the part we’ve been waiting for. We get to see what comes back up.

No, Noah did not dismantle the Ark after it landed in the mountains of Ararat. The Bible makes no mention of Noah disassembling the ark. In fact, it states that he was living in a tent near his vineyard. All of the ancient homes in this region are made from stone. In addition, Noah’s sons all moved away to restart civilization. Noah and his wife would not need that much lumber for housing and supplies. And last, God directed the ark to be coated inside and out with pitch in order to withstand a global catastrophic flood for a year. That ark was not coming apart easily, as pitch was known to become almost stone-like. It would have been more trouble than it was worth trying to pry it apart.

Over 4,000 years ago, Noah and his family stepped off the Ark onto the mountains of Ararat and into a world completely transformed by a catastrophic global flood. Expert scientist Dr. Bakhtar has revealed that the formation is not a homogeneous rock structure. Our team of soil scientists is now on site at the Ark-shaped formation, collecting more than 200 soil and rock samples from the rim, the slopes, the earth flow, unusual features, and the nearby hillsides for comparison. Gopher has officially gone underground. Our specially built subterranean drone just completed its first deployment at the Durupınar formation, entering through an access hole along the side of the formation. This little guy was built for a very specific job: exploring spaces that we can’t reach ourselves and giving the team a look at what’s happening below the surface. And for a first deployment, Gopher did a great job. There are a few modifications we want to make to improve his efficiency and maneuverability, so he’ll be heading back to the United States for some upgrades before his next mission. This is exactly what field research looks like, build it, test it, learn from it, improve it, and send it back in. Gopher’s first mission is complete. Next time, we go deeper. Our custom-built underground drone was deployed through one of the core drill holes created at the Durupınar site. The whole point of building Gopher small enough to fit down these narrow holes was to give us a chance to see what’s happening below the surface where people simply can’t go. And on his second mission, he did a great job. Gopher made it down 12 meters, giving the team another look into the underground environment. There are a few things we want to modify to make him even more efficient for future deployments, so he’ll be heading back to the U.S. for some upgrades. Two missions down. 12 meters underground. For centuries, travelers passed through these mountains. With Mount Ararat rising behind the Durupınar formation, this region became an ancient crossroads between east and west, a route later traveled by merchants, pilgrims and travelers along the Silk Road. And according to ancient traditions, some of those pilgrims came here because they believed the Ark had come to rest in these mountains. There are even accounts of travelers taking pieces of wood from the Ark as sacred relics, pieces that were later preserved in churches and monasteries. Today, the story is being investigated in a very different way. Instead of simply collecting relics, our team is collecting data. Radar. Core drilling. Soil samples. Geological analysis. Drilling has officially begun at Durupınar. Standing on what we believe could be the very tip of Noah’s Ark, you can see the entire formation stretching out below, with Mount Ararat rising in the distance. And now, for the first time, we’re going beneath the surface. The core drilling operation is collecting samples from meters below the formation. Each core brings up actual material from inside the ground, which can be sent to laboratories for detailed analysis. For decades, the debate has centered on what Durupınar actually is. Now we’re going deeper. This is the moment the investigation moves from what we can see on the surface to what is actually beneath it. The drilling has begun.

Come spend a day at Durupınar with us. The drilling team had just reached about 4 meters down when they hit something hard. The drill can’t get through solid rock, so everything stops while they figure out what they’ve hit. Andrew takes a look, and it could be a piece of basalt, there are basalt boulders scattered around the site, but the team won’t know until they examine it properly. So they document it, label it, bag the sample and send it off for testing. The team is currently drilling in an area where some of the interesting subsurface features show up deeper down, around 7 meters. So we keep going. Meter by meter, sample by sample.

Deep in eastern Turkey, near the Iranian border, enormous stones stand as reminders of the story of Noah’s Ark. Known as drogue stones, or anchor stones, these massive stones have large holes carved into their tops and distinctive cross-shaped markings across their surfaces. According to the local tradition, these stones were used to anchor Noah’s Ark during the Flood, helping hold the enormous vessel steady through the waters. Standing beside one of them makes the scale incredible to comprehend. These stones are massive. And just beyond them, Mount Ararat rises over the landscape, the mountains where Scripture tells us the Ark came to rest. Today, Noah’s Ark Scans begins core drilling at the Durupinar boat-shaped formation, long studied as a possible Noah’s Ark site, under official Turkish permits. Core samples will be taken and the GOPHER drone sent in later this week to examine the interior. This is the first permitted study at the site, conducted with oversight and involvement of leading archaeologists and scientists. When we began this study, we promised to make the evidence irrefutable. Ever wondered what 515 feet actually looks like in real life? I decided to walk the entire perimeter of the Durupınar formation and time myself so you can get a better idea of just how huge this thing is. The answer: 8 minutes and 30 seconds. And that includes some serious huffing and puffing. It’s honestly hard to understand the scale from photos or drone footage. When you’re standing at the bottom and looking up at the sides of the formation, it just keeps going. So if you’re planning on visiting the Ark site someday… Bring good shoes.
