The Morning Bath with Miss Sybil Seely in Buster Keaton's "One Week" (1920) includes an early breaking of the fourth wall... As she reaches out to grab her soap which would have exposed her to the camera—the cameraman places his hand directly over the lens. Once she is safely back in the tub, the hand moves away, and she smiles and thanks him.

Gene Wilder in his very first film appearance, perfectly cast as the nervous Eugene Grizzard in "Bonnie Nad Clyde"..The scene was inspired by a real-life incident in 1933, when the actual Barrow gang kidnapped an undertaker named H.D. Darby and a woman traveling with him. Darby reportedly told his captors his occupation, prompting Bonnie to make a darkly ironic remark about possibly "needing his services someday." Darby later became one of the coroners who worked on Bonnie and Clyde after they were killed.
