🚆Today Monday marks one year of the Northumberland Line, and we’re celebrating with a full route time lapse video. More than 920,000 journeys have already been made between Newcastle, Manors, Seaton Delaval, Newsham, Blyth Bebside and Ashington. The line has become a go to for weekend travel, and we’re now seeing more commuters and students using it during the week too. Running Northern may be more complex than you think with: 🚉 2,500 services daily calling at over 500 stations 🚆 345 trains, encompassing 11 different types of train (a mix of electric, hybrid and diesel) 🔧 5 traincare centres (depots), 7 outstations (mini depots for cleaning, fuelling, and minor maintenance), and 31 additional train presentation points 🙋♀️ 23 crew bases scattered throughout the network 🦸♂️🦸♀️ A workforce of just over 7,000, including around 3,500 highly qualified drivers and conductors Hear from some of the dedicated individuals who make our train service possible.

For the first time in 60 years, passenger services will now run along the Northumberland line. When the 18-mile line opens, services will call at stations in Ashington, Seaton Delaval, Manors and Newcastle. Northern will run two daytime services an hour from Monday to Saturday and one train per hour in the evenings and on Sundays. A journey along the entire route will take around 35 minutes and a single fare will cost no more than £3. Take a look! 🚆

After 41 years of service, Bobby D has recently retired from the railway. Family, friends, and colleagues who worked with Bob over the years gathered at Manchester Victoria to wave him off as he drives his last train out of the station to Chester and back. Happy retirement, Bobby! 🚆
