𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱👇🏽 1641- Committee of Ways and Means established to propose resolutions on taxation. 1853- Chairman of Ways and Means established (that’s me 🙋🏽♀️) to preside over the Budget. 2025- Chancellor delivers her budget statement lasting over an hour (longest was 5hrs-Disraeli) 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴👇🏽 Tonight, I am back in the Chair! This year we have 101 Ways and Means resolutions and 1 Money resolution.💷 After 4 days of MPs debating, the Government seeks the House’s approval for taxation - granted through votes.🗳️ The Budget then becomes the Finance Bill and makes its way through both Houses of Parliament. I was asked by Crowborough women and Cadet families to come and join them on the march to highlight the impact on our community and Air & Army Cadets. The Home Office are yet to evidence how has the site been made safe, legal and compliant. The majority of people attending the march are locals who are feeling blindsided and ignored by the Home Office and Wealden District Council LibDem and Green couch councillors who are missing in action locally and won't meet local residents. They won't even represent locals by taking legal action against the Home Office to stop this. I’m grateful for the work that has been done by local Cllrs Andrew Wilson and Cllr Michael Lunn in the absence of any action from WDC. Fun Fact: When is an MPs Point of Order an actual Point of Order❓UK House of Commons According to Erskine May 21.49 (Pg. 510) a Point of Order should in principle, draw the Chair’s attention to a possible breach of the House’ rule of order.🧐 Too many Points of Order for one day, isn’t that right John Slinger MP. That’s a wrap in UK Parliament for 2025. It's been a fantastic year, and it was wonderful to end it, how I started it, in the Chair UK House of Commons. Thank you to everybody across Sussex Weald and Parliament for your support, it's been another year full of many highs and cheeky commentary👓😉. 📣I have finished my meeting with Home Office Minister, Alex Norris, which I organised on behalf of our local community. I was joined by Kim from Crowborough shield and Jeannette who both made it clear that we are not confident in their decision or the lack of leadership at Wealden District Council. It’s nearly the end of another busy year in UK Parliament. 🕰️ With just a few days to go until 2026 arrives, here’s a little look back on just some of the moments in UK House of Commons Chamber & throwbacks to Sussex Weald residents visiting Westminster in 2025. I wish all colleagues & the fabulous House staff, doorkeepers & clerks a very happy New Year 🎆 & I look forward to being back in the Chair next week. PARLY

Outcomes following my meeting with Defence Minister, Luke Pollard on Monday 👇🏽 🗣️ Together with locals Jeannette Towey, CrowboroughShield & Michael Lunn, I pressed the Minister about the provisions for our Crowborough Cadets. Previously, the Home Office suggested that the Cadets could continue operating from the site after it would accommodate 600 male asylum seekers. On Monday, it was confirmed that: 👉🏽 The Crowborough Cadets will not be operating from the site, starting 5th December. 👉🏽 A new site will be secured for them. 👉🏽 As a result our my pressure, the MoD have now written to Cadets’ leadership, volunteers and parents.
