My English definitely has a Nigerian intonation, but what did you expect? For the past 18 years I have been speaking English at home with someone that was born and brought up in Nigeria. It’s not about pretending to be someone I am not, it’s just allowing myself to be who I have become.

We just hit 800k followers!!!! What a fantastic moment to step back and reintroduce myself to both new and familiar faces. Aha m bu Janine, born and brought up in Zurich, Switzerland but, since September last year, proudly immersed in the vibrant life of Enugu, Nigeria. My family includes my wonderful husband Ezenwa; our adventurous twins, Chijioke and Ziora; our thoughtful Uche; and of course, our spirited Nnanyereugo, not forgetting Brutus, the most senior among us all, our ever-youthful dog! A huge part of my love for everything Igbo has been inspired by my amazing husband, Ezenwa. Not only is he a Nze na Ozo, earning me the title Lolo Anyanwu Ututu in Ala Igbo, but his love and passion for his culture have deeply influenced my journey into embracing and celebrating our beautiful life here. His support and love are the bedrock of my adventures and storytelling. For those who have just joined us, my blog shares my journey through the beauty of intercultural marriage, the joys and challenges of raising multinational kids, and my adventures in trying (and sometimes failing) to master the Igbo language after 16 years. I am a self-confessed foodie, diving fork-first into the rich flavors of Igbo cuisine, and an enthusiast for showcasing the stunning spots Nigeria has to offer. Despite what might seem, social media isn’t my main hustle. My day job is in an office, keeping things balanced, but my heart beats strongest for my side passions. I am a passionate children’s book author, with my first book, “Ala Nnam,” exploring our kids’ adventures in their father’s village and their discovery of Igbo culture. My creativity also finds its outlet in painting and photography, my personal retreats that I’ve yet to share widely. As we continue to build this amazing community, I warmly invite each of you to be part of this journey. Whether you’re here for the cultural insights, the art, the food, or to simply share in our story, I’m thrilled to have you with us. Here’s to the exciting journey ahead, together. Your support and curiosity fuel this adventure, and I can’t wait to see where this shared path takes us. #introduce #igbo #nigerwife #travel #anambra #isuofia #nwanyiocha

| Splish Splash | We came to the Golden Tulip Hotel in Agulu for a Weekend refreshement. The hotel has a big sit out with a tennis court, pool table and a small football field but most importantly (for the kids), a really big Swimming pool. A great place to get away and relax 🙌🧘♀️😎 #travel #anambra #nigeria #agulu #poolfun #mixedfamily #nwanyiocha Agulu Lake Resort

Returning home after months abroad, we removed our shoes to feel the earth beneath our feet—a connection to Ala, the guardian of this land. The palm tree, once a sapling, now a towering emblem of time’s journey, greeted us. In our children’s eyes, we saw their father’s Igbo heritage mirrored, as they claim this land as their own. Homecoming, where joy, roots, and identity converged. 🌍🌴🏡 #AnambraHomecoming #IgboHeritage #mixedkids #alannam #bringyourkidshome

Today we finally made it to the stadium to watch the legendary Rangers play their home match against Enyimba city. To say it was a hot game is an understatement. Let me just say it had everything from calm, heart rush, cry and fight. All the emotions in 100+ minutes. I was totally overwhelmed to see how many people showed up to support their teams. Not the usual “The Blues” “The Gunners” or ManU for life. but rather the Rangers everyone came to see! I love football with all my heart and I am so happy to see that the national league is getting the attention it deserves! And even though the ending was unexpected and definitely not as we planned, we are grateful we could be part of this legendary match! #rangers #enugu #football #nigerianleague #nigeria #travel #alannam #mixedfamily ezenwaisuofia #nwanyiocha

| Goodbye- for now | Our time is up—we have to go back! As we prepare to leave Nigeria after a year, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences we have had here. This was not just a visit; it was about making Ala Igbo a true home for our kids, letting them live, learn, and grow in this beautiful, vibrant land. Although living here has its challenges, and we must return for now, Ala Igbo has become a special place in our hearts. We leave with memories we will cherish forever and look forward to the day we can return to this place that is now our home—not just by hearsay but by experience! Thank you, Enugu, thank you Isuofia, thank you Awka, thank you Aba, for everything. Until we meet again. ❤️ #igbo #anambra #enugu #isuofia #mixedfamily #livinginnigeria #goodbye #nwanyiocha #ezenwaisuofia

| Mechanic Apprenticeship in Ala Igbo | Chijioke has really made progress since starting to learn being a Mechanic last year September. What started as an after school adventure has turned into a passion and the boy that used to be shy has become outspoken and confident - not to talk of all the skills he has learned! We are really proud of him and grateful he got this opportunity! #igboapprentice #CatchThemYoung #nwanyiocha #livinginnigeria #enugu #benzclinic #Igbo #ezenwaisuofia
