A large plume of dust from West Texas was seen on visible satellite imagery today moving into South Central Texas. IR band differencing also allows dust storms to be observed during both daytime and at night! The bright magenta/pink shading in this imagery is dust.

7/15 We are monitoring the development of new convection mainly west of a Hondo to Kerrville line. Hourly rainfall rates have generally remained around 1/2 inch. However, with continued heating and deeper convection, we will likely see some increased rain rates this afternoon.
