What happened to Jeffrey Sachs is not an argument. It is a ritual, the auto-da-fé of a dying civilization. Europe no longer debates. It excommunicates. Every time truth crosses its borders, it is denounced as heresy, burned in the square of public opinion, and buried under the flags of "values" it no longer lives by. The Italian senator who called Professor Sachs a liar wasn’t defending Ukraine. He was defending the psychological architecture of European dependence. He cannot admit the truth because his career, his ideology, and his identity all collapse if he does. Europe is no longer a continent. It is a colony that thinks itself free. Washington writes the script, Brussels recites it, and the people pay for the performance in cold homes and silent factories. They call it "solidarity." But solidarity with your own jailer is not virtue. It is pathology. Europe kneels before America and mistakes the floor for high ground. It sanctions Russia and bankrupts itself. It sacrifices its own citizens to fund a war it cannot win. It destroys its own energy, its own diplomacy, its own industry, all to prove its loyalty to a master who despises it. The slave masters of history have become servants in suits, begging their overseer for scraps of relevance. Europe is no longer a continent. It is an accent in America’s voice. And even that accent is fading.

You want the ugliest truth? America’s war on terror was never a war against terror. It was a war to reserve terror for itself. To monopolize it. Centralize it. Legitimize it. Brand it. Then criminalize every retaliatory language that might emerge from the ruins it created. That is why Washington never really wants terror eliminated. Terror justifies budgets. Terror justifies bases. Terror justifies surveillance. Terror justifies dependency. Terror justifies the endless American right to arrive anywhere on Earth and call itself necessary. The empire does not fear terrorism. It fears competitors in the business of fear. And that is why it must always remain the largest supplier.

Agent Orange. Let's sit with this for a moment. The U.S. military, between 1961 and 1971, sprayed approximately 20 million gallons of herbicidal chemicals over approximately 4.5 million acres of Vietnamese land. Primarily a compound called Agent Orange, contaminated with dioxin, one of the most toxic substances known to human science. The stated purpose was "defoliation." Destroy the jungle canopy. Deprive Vietnamese fighters of cover. What it actually did was poison a country for generations. The people who were directly exposed developed cancers at catastrophic rates. They died of diseases their bodies had never been designed to fight. They had children with devastating birth defects: missing limbs, destroyed nervous systems, bodies that could not function. Those children had children who were also affected. The dioxin settled into the soil, into the water, into the food chain, into the bodies of everyone who ate and drank and breathed in contaminated areas. This did not stop in 1971. The poison is still there. The birth defects are still happening. The cancers are still happening. There are Vietnamese people alive today, born decades after the war, whose bodies bear the mark of a chemical weapon deployed before their parents were old enough to fight. The U.S. government spent decades denying responsibility. Fought legal battles to avoid compensation. Eventually offered amounts so insulting they functioned more as mockery than reparation. And then, this is the part that should make every person with a conscience unable to sleep, they continued to present themselves to the world as the "moral authority." The defenders of the "rules-based order." The nation that other nations should model themselves on. Vietnam did not model itself on America. Vietnam defeated America. And Vietnam is still here.
