US Ambassador to Denmark Ken Howery on Friday afternoon placed 44 new Danish flags in the flower planters outside the US Embassy, assisted by embassy staff. “I have been away this week — I was in Washington,” Howery told TV 2. “I participated in meetings between Greenland, Denmark and the United States.” “I have followed the misunderstanding surrounding the flags. I landed today, and I am now placing 44 flags in honor of the Danish soldiers who fell in Afghanistan,” he said. “I have the greatest respect for the Danish contributions.
