If you think you hate these Zionists enough, you are wrong; you must renew this hatred every single minute. Every day, they prove to us that they are a group of vile, inhuman psychopaths. Their minds, hearts, and bodies are thirsty for bloodshed in a way that is beyond imagination.

These are the books I carried with me from my home, and the ones I rescued from the libraries destroyed by the Zionist occupation. They have been displaced with me 13 times; with every displacement, I felt a lifetime slipping away, yet I protected them with all my strength because they are an inseparable part of my personality, my being, and my soul. Finally, I have given them a special place in my Phoenix Library, which I built during the genocide in Gaza. Thus, it becomes the first library established during the genocide, and one of the very few libraries built during wartime. Thank you to every person who contributed to the success of this great work. Thank you all.

As my friends Ibrahim, Hossam, and I were walking among the rubble of the houses, we came across a library. We entered and found many books—it was like discovering a precious treasure. In this thread, I’d like to write a brief paragraph about each book we found. The first book is The World of Ornament: The book covers a wide range of ornamental designs inspired by historical elements dating back to ancient times, including jewelry, tiles, stained glass, illuminated manuscripts, textiles, and ceramics. These designs encompass styles from various cultures and civilizations, such as: Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Etruscan, Asian, Middle Eastern and European (from the Middle Ages to the 19th century)...+

A 15-minute video, but it was sped up because the internet in Gaza is poor and it couldn’t be uploaded otherwise. I filmed it today along Salah al-Din Road, which separates East Gaza from West Gaza. It shows the massive destruction caused by Israel in Gaza — genocide in its most horrific form.

The journey of building the first library during the genocide was not born in a single moment. It was a series of journeys through death and displacement. I lived the hardest moments of my life from the very first day I was forced to flee my hometown of Beit Hanoun, carrying my books on my back. From one place to another, I rescued books from the inferno that consumed everything and spared nothing. Today, after more than 13 displacements — more than 13 moving deaths — we have succeeded in building the first library during the genocide in Gaza. I wish I could offer my soul to every person who believed in us and supported us to complete this dream. But I have nothing in my hands except these words, through which I want to scatter all my beautiful sentences like flowers at the feet of every person who helped us. Phoenix Library | مكتبة العنقاء

Ahmed finally managed to save up some money and bought a kilogram of dates. He distributed them at the school where he lives, and with each person he gave the dates to, he asked them to pray for his mother, but when he saw me filming him, he became shy and stopped speaking. Pray for her.

Two years of killing, slaughter, displacement, and uprooting — two whole years of genocide during which I preserved all my books. I managed to rescue three libraries that the Israeli occupation army burned. I’m trying to save what remains of the books, knowledge, and heritage as much as I can. No matter how much they try to uproot us, each of us will continue the struggle in our own way. I’m the writer Omar Hamad is from the town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza and is now displaced in the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

These books are part of my being, of my soul. I cannot imagine a day when they would be gone from me. I carry them with me as if they were one of my children. Today, I carry them from northern Gaza to the south, keeping them safe at my friend’s place until I find a place for myself and my family.

Despite the severe cold and heavy rainfall, 120 children have been provided with full winter clothing. This school is not only for education; it also takes care of all the children’s needs. This is a trusted campaign—please support Ahmed. Please donate and share the campaign.

On a journey where the choice was either death or life — to return carried on a coffin, or to return carrying a bag of flour. But I risked everything just to see those smiles, to feed them, to ease their hunger, and silence the rumbling of their stomachs. Alhamdulillah for everything.
