This video is a perfect example of why Ontario has a law compelling drivers to move over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks. On January 2nd, shortly before 11:30am, #OttawaOPP were on scene of a collision on #Hwy417 near Bayshore when a vehicle collided with a tow truck! The vehicle drove past two cruisers, on the shoulder, and struck the tow truck. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. The driver now faces a $490 fine and three demerit points. If you see an emergency vehicle or tow truck with their lights on, slow down and move over. #OttTraffic ^mf

Forecasts are calling for another round of potentially heavy snow for eastern Ontario, arriving as early as overnight tonight and continuing throughout Wednesday (January 21st). Be prepared. If you have to be on the roads Wednesday, give yourself extra time, clear ALL the snow from your vehicle, adjust your driving to match conditions (slow down and leave extra following distance), keep full headlight system turned on and keep your eyes on the road. If you are behind a working snowplow, stay there. Consider adding an emergency kit to your vehicle, and make sure to top up your fuel and windshield washer fluid. Check for road conditions before heading out, and monitor local radio for road and weather updates while you're driving. #ONHwys #OttTraffic #ONStorm #DriveSafe ^bd

We’re not “kidding” you - this little guy caused quite the disruption along the #Hwy416/#Hwy401 area between last night and this morning. #GrenvilleOPP responded to multiple traffic hazard complaints over the last several hours about this “baaaad” boy running onto the highways. Nearby Canada Border Services Agency officers happened to see us running after him and came out to help. By chance, a member of the public passing by had another goat with them and some food, allowing us to build a rapport with “Vincent Van Goat”, and move in close enough to catch him safely. Vinny quickly found a new home with a nearby resident. Never a “baaahring” day in Grenville County. #OttNews ^dh
