The nascent HTML-in-Canvas API is exciting to me not for flashy effects, but because it extends the semantics that the DOM can (tractably) represent — tiny example: it's possible to show an element in multiple places, cheaply, under arbitrary transforms.

I made an HTML/DOM viewer you can paste into your console to view or debug any website in 3D. Choose from random/gradient/clear colors or whether layers have sides. You can save it as a bookmarklet so it's 1 click away. It's just a tiny IIFE JS function.

A tiny protocol to stream data over QR codes in both directions at once. Each device confirms receipt of the previous chunk, so it handles interruptions smoothly. Made this for webRTC signalling and other things as part of the Folk Canvas project with @chrisshank23

What if a graph view and text editor were just two ends of a continuous spectrum? You get consistent semantics, intermediate views, and some other benefits by blending structurally-compatible representations. Here's a 'semantic zoom' in tldraw

Announcing the Open Canvas Working Group (OCWG). Building atop @obsmd's JSON Canvas, we will work to establish a robust file format to enable interoperability between infinite canvas tools. Participants: tldraw, Excalidraw, Stately.ai, Kinopio, DXOS, and others 1/n

What if *any* website could be turned into a canvas with a single click? Rebuilt my website ( last night and added DOM<->Canvas translation allowing you to "break out" into a multiplayer tldraw canvas at any point. The Regular web, zero magic. 1/n
