Two hens observed to be injured and thin, not walking or getting up. Today, a CFIA agent was seen poking the hen. Serious animal cruelty appears to continue. A caring 35-year old rooster, Gino, remains near and shows concern for the hens. Pray for these hens and supportive roosters, and that their story doesn't end like Spirit. *** SHOCKING!!! *** Dave visits injured hen, Spirit, inside the pen with CFIA and police, finding horrific conditions. Saturday, September 27, 2025 Dave Bilinski, Universal Ostrich Farm Co-owner/Farmer is given only 5 minutes by CFIA to visit Spirit, an ostrich previously injured by helicopters and drones frightening the animals from above the pen. The CFIA agents are hidden behind white DuPont Tyvek coveralls, masks, and fashion sunglasses. The female CFIA agent is known as Cortnie Fotheringham. The male CFIA agent claimed he was a vet but refused his name. Spirit was unrecognizable to Dave, lying next to a manure pile and severely dehydrated. CFIA agents indicated that the bird had a fever with an estimated “38.5°C” temperature, but admitted this was done visually, not actually taking the hen's temperature. CFIA refused to allow the caregivers to hydrate or care for Spirit, suggesting instead that they bring a vet from Vancouver and continue discussions via email rather than in person with owners Karen and Dave.
