Two hens observed to be injured and thin, not walking or getting up. Today, a CFIA agent was seen poking the hen. Serious animal cruelty appears to continue. A caring 35-year old rooster, Gino, remains near and shows concern for the hens. Pray for these hens and supportive roosters, and that their story doesn't end like Spirit. IMPORTANT- I JUST GOT WORD OF THE JUDGES RULING AGAINST UNIVERSAL OSTRICH FARM!!!! MAD AND SAD My heart goes out to you, Katie Pasitney, and your family. I'm not sure when the CFIA intends to do the cull, but it is devastating to possibly see another farm wiped out by outdated government regulations. Please send your concerns to the CFIA or go to the farms website. I will continue to fight for this farm and try to help with an appeal or pursue other options going forward.

How many birds are left on this farm? We know at least one ostrich has died while under the "care" of the CFIA at Universal Ostrich Farms. The family has been asking for a headcount for some time in CFIA have been refusing. Sgt. Mike Rude (retired) has been spending some time in the mountains and has gathered evidence that appears to show the number of ostriches here is far lower than it should be. Mike and Katie attempted to deliver this evidence, with the sworn testimony from Mike, to the RCMP. Katie was ignored, told someone would call her and about an hour later we got word that someone would meet with Katie and Mike tomorrow morning at 0800. More to come.

Saturday, September 27, 2025 Dave Bilinski, Universal Ostrich Farm Co-owner/Farmer is given only 5 minutes by CFIA to visit Spirit, an ostrich previously injured by helicopters and drones frightening the animals from above the pen. The CFIA agents are hidden behind white DuPont Tyvek coveralls, masks, and fashion sunglasses. The female CFIA agent is known as Cortnie Fotheringham. The male CFIA agent claimed he was a vet but refused his name. Spirit was unrecognizable to Dave, lying next to a manure pile and severely dehydrated. CFIA agents indicated that the bird had a fever with an estimated “38.5°C” temperature, but admitted this was done visually, not actually taking the hen's temperature.
