Last night the Palestine Solidarity Campaign put out a call to local racists in Notting Hill to protest against Miznon, an Israeli-owned restaurant. They turned up, and harassed and intimidated staff and customers. Some claimed to be 'well informed' yet were happy to bring 1930s bigotry right up to date on the streets of London. In Melbourne a similar protest resulted in a Miznon restaurant being smashed up. In America, Jewish customers have been abused while they eat. And in Britain, MacDonalds' and Starbucks' customers have been shouted at and intimidated. We were proud to stand with the Jewish community last night, and say that we were not prepared to allow any of this to happen at Miznon. And when the police refused to move the group from the restaurant doorstep, with our allies, we did their job for them. We recognise the right to free speech. In fact since Our Fight was formed in the dark shadow cast by October 7th, we have done more than any so-called progressive group to challenge attacks on our liberties. From the SWP to Stand Up to Racism, from the PSC to Kneecap and Palestine Action supporters — all have physically attacked us and other campaigners on London's streets. None of these groups have ever defended our free speech, even when we have defended theirs. But we do not accept that those freedoms entitle a collection of self-righteous bigots to go toe-to-toe with Jewish customers and Israeli businesses. We demanded that these modern-day brownshirts be moved to the other side of the road and when the police refused, we peacefully pushed them — and the police — away from the Miznon entrance. We are frequently outnumbered by members of these racist organisations, so we will not be able to do this every time. But when we can — as at Phoenix Cinema — we must resist this growing wave of bigotry. We cannot allow the brownshirts of 2025 to drive Jews and Israelis from our public spaces. #twotierpolicing #antisemitism #spiritofpheonix

"You've arrested an Iranian refugee on a march that says 'refugees welcome'." We joined the Stand Up to Racism march, with placards standing against anti-Semitism, and were attacked by stewards. Three of our group were then arrested. And Niyak Ghorbani (نیاک) was one of them.

At Stand Up To Racism's march today we stood against racism and anti-Semitism with an Iranian refugee, a British Indian, a British South African, and the granddaughter of Russian pogrom victims. A man holding a sign saying that refugees are welcome, spat at us. This is the left.

📽️ Today we took a boat to stand for freedom and democracy in Iran, because the UK government won't. Then we challenged the pro-IRGC march in Westminster, organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. At the front of the march was a picture of Khamenei — former leader of a regime that is responsible for so many deaths, and for trying to extinguish the aspirations of so many young. We stood against the marchers, for a free Iran, because democrats must always stand with any call for democracy. We cannot ignore the fight of the young and the brave. #freedomforiran Videos: Niyak Ghorbani (نیاک) and James Heartfield

Today Metropolitan Police went further than ever in their misuse of Section 14. For the first time they have imposed conditions on Our Fight, despite us not having announced any counter-protest in advance. They are saying that on a particular day, there can only be one protest, in one place, at one time, about one issue. This is an infringement of our right to protest and our freedom of speech. We will challenge this. Over the past two years we have constantly experienced how the police have been using Section 14 of the Public Order Act to silence us. Kurpa is asking the officer to explain how she is at risk of breaking Section 14 when she is not part of the organisation on which conditions have been imposed. This officer does not think he needs to explain how these conditions impact her and is threatening to arrest her. "Section 14 is Being used to Silence Us” 🚨 Join us to stand in support with Kurpa at the Preliminary Hearing: 📅 Thursday, December 18th, 2025 🕙 10am 📍 Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, 51 Holloway Road, London, N7 8JA This is another example of the UK's policy of policing by appeasement. The police are riding roughshod over fundamental rights in order to placate the loudest voices. #twotierpolicing #appeasement #freespeech

🇮🇱 🇬🇧 "I'm not Jewish. I'm not Israeli. But I've come here to show the people of Israel that they are not alone." As Israel is attacked from all sides, making it increasingly difficult to keep the economy going, Kurpa has been doing what she can to help. On November 10th — the anniversary of Kristallnacht — posters appeared in Kentish Town declaring 'Zionists not welcome'. The following day, outside the Bob Vylan gig, Mark Birbeck felt it was appropriate to wear a t-shirt declaring 'Some people are Zionist. Get over it.' It was neither a protest nor a counter-protest. The statement breaks no laws and is not offensive. Yet the police chose to arrest Mark by using the Section 14 conditions that had been placed on the Stop the Hate protest across the road — even though Mark repeatedly asked if he could show that he was not part of that protest and is not a member of that group. His arrest is a serious misuse of the Public Order legislation, and should concern anyone who is worried about our freedoms.

We stood by Nelson's Column yesterday to challenge the police policy of taking away our rights in order to appease the largest, loudest or most dangerous group. Here Mark Birbeck explains how the police used Section 14 powers to deny 7 Jewish men their right to protest. 📣 Background - In November, West Midlands Police banned Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from attending a Europa League game at Aston Villa. Recent reports reveal the police made false allegations of violence by MTA fans. - Just days after two Jews were killed at a Manchester synagogue, Kurpa Patel held a placard saying 'We Stand With Britain's Jews' — with a Manchester bee in the centre, in solidarity with the synagogue attack victims. She was forcefully removed, arrested and then de-arrested on condition she left the area. - Mark Birbeck was also arrested for holding the same placard. He was held overnight, and a few days later all charges were dropped. - On the same day, seven Jewish campaigners displayed a banner saying that 'globalise the intifada' was a call to murder Jews. They were immediately arrested and held overnight. Once again, after a few days all charges were dropped. - On Remembrance Day, when we acknowledge those who died for our freedoms, Kurpa Patel wore an IDF t-shirt outside a Bob Vylan concert, to recognise those who gave their lives to defend Israel. She was arrested and spent over 18 hours in custody. - Whilst live-streaming, Iranian journalist Niyak Ghorbani was arrested by police who accused him of being a protestor — despite him having no flags or placards. When the case reached court it was thrown out. In all of these cases — and many more — our rights to protest, assemble, speak or even just enjoy a football match, have been tossed aside by the police, in their rush to appease the largest group. #twotierpolicing #appeasement

Outside the Israeli Embassy yesterday, activists chanted for Zionists to be murdered. These racists believe that anyone who supports a state for Jews should be driven from the streets and workplaces, and killed. Is this Britain 2025 or Germany 1933? Is this the Britain you want to see? It is an indictment of our country that open anti-Semitism now goes unchallenged. It's time for us all to speak up. #israel #antisemitism #holocaust ----------------------------------- ✉️ KEEP IN TOUCH ✉️ Subscribe to our channel to make sure you don't miss any of our videos and shorts about our street activities, conferences, solidarity trips and interviews with activists. From the UN to the BBC, from governments to on-street marchers, from NGOs to sensitive artists, the one message they hate to hear is that Hamas are to blame for everything that is happening in Gaza today. So it is no surprise that when Mark Birbeck showed a poster declaring that Hamas are terrorists, next to the speakers' platform at an anti-Israel rally in Frankfurt, he was attacked by marchers and then removed by the police. The rally and march of over 10,000 was initially banned by the authorities, but the ban was later lifted and the event was allowed to proceed. One of the speakers from the platform was arrested after he trivialised the Holocaust and October 7th, and during the march chants were heard calling for tge destruction of the state of Israel and for Germany to bomb the world's only Jewish state. Today in City Magistrate's Court Niyak Ghorbani (نیاک) was on trial for being a journalist. On March 18th he was arrested for covering an anti-Israel protest, at which the police asserted that he was not a journalist, but a counter-protestor. In court today they accepted that he had no flags, placards, t-shirts or hats to show support for Israel. They accepted that he did not chant, shout or indeed say anything in support of Israel. Niyak was accused of being a protestor—and arrested for breaching Section 14—simply because he is 'Niyak'. Full report of today's proceedings in video. #israel #gaza #freespeech

In November, 2024, on the steps of Hackney Town Hall, Niyak Ghorbani (نیاک) and Mark Birbeck were assaulted by an anti-Israel protestor. The activist rubbed food in Mark's face and on our banner. She then spat on the banner. And then finally, she punched Niyak full in the face, requiring Niyak (and our group) to spend hours in Homerton Hospital's A&E. On Wednesday the attacker's case came to court. She denied the charges—despite video evidence—but was found guilty of both the assault and criminal damage to the banner. In the nearly two years since the October 7th massacre there has been a feeling amongst anti-Israel activists that they can intimidate those they don't agree with in an attempt to drive them from the public sphere. We have always refused to accept this. We welcome the guilty verdicts, and hope they are an indication that the justice system will not tolerate this kind of behaviour either. #israel #gaza #freespeech
