This Tuesday marks one of the most complex live upgrades ever attempted on a blockchain. Polkadot's Asset Hub migration isn’t just complex; it’s industry-defying. As Jan Jan, Technical Program Manager at Parity, put it: “This project is incredibly hard, and the margin for error is zero. It’s only possible thanks to a world-class team of engineers and partners standing by across the globe."

We’ll be honest that for a long time, Polkadot's docs weren’t where they needed to be and didn’t reflect the quality of the underlying technology. That’s changed. The Polkadot docs have undergone a full refresh: a clearer structure, modern smart-contract guides, and clear paths to production. Docs are a product. This one is now built for use. 👉

Digital infrastructure is now public infrastructure; we just haven’t started treating it that way. When roads or power grids fail, we fix them collectively. When digital systems fail, we hope private companies step in. This is backwards. If the internet is going to be the foundation of global society, the systems beneath it must be: open, verifiable, resistant to unilateral control, and most of all, accountable to the people who rely on them. The Second Age of Polkadot is about designing digital infrastructure that behaves like infrastructure, not a product owned by a handful of companies.

Most bridges rely on multisig committees. That’s also why bridges have lost billions. Hyperbridge takes a different path: - No trusted signers - No committees - Security from consensus + state proofs Interoperability is secured at the protocol level. Built for a multi-chain future on Polkadot.

Polkadot’s modular design gave us world-class components, but they lived on different system chains. Contracts here, governance there, assets elsewhere, all stitched together with async XCM. That fragmentation made onboarding harder than it needed to be. The Polkadot Hub is the solution we’re building: A unified execution environment that removes those boundaries and gives developers a clear starting point. Parity engineer Torsten Stüber sums it up perfectly.

At this year’s Parity retreat, we made a pivotal shift. For a decade, Parity’s work focused on building Polkadot, a platform, protocol, and the foundations of a decentralized web, encompassing security, scalability, governance, and the protocol's core. Now that the mission is complete. We’re shifting gears toward building products on top of that foundation: Decentralized, permissionless, privacy-preserving social services that anyone can access. It marks the beginning of a new era for Parity: a product-first, user-focused platform powered by Polkadot.
