IMPEACHMENT COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON FILES AFFIDAVIT OPPOSING PRESIDENT’S INTERDICT Parliament, Monday, 22 June 2026 – The Chairperson of the Impeachment Committee on Section 89 Enquiry, Mr Makashule Gana, today filed an affidavit opposing the urgent application brought by President Cyril Ramaphosa to interdict the committee from carrying out its work. The matter is scheduled to be heard in the Western Cape High Court on 15 and 16 July 2026. The committee will continue with its work and will meet on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, to consider its draft terms of reference and the process for appointing evidence leaders. Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (#SCOPA), Songezo Zibi says the committee reached out again to Mr. Collins Letsoalo’s attorneys after he missed today’s sitting. His attorney confirmed receiving Parliament’s letter stressing Mr. Letsoalo’s presence and will get back to the committee after consulting him. Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (#SCOPA), Songezo Zibi explains that the committee expected former #RAF CEO, Mr Collins Letsoalo to appear at 9:00 for a two-day session on the financial management issues at the RAF. If he fails to appear today and tomorrow, the committee will consider further action, including referral for criminal investigation and prosecution under the Powers and Privileges Act for defying a parliamentary summons.
