We've now successfully installed 50 state-of-the-art 360° cameras across the city, supporting more than 200 police investigations in six months since the first cameras were deployed. By working closely with Peel Regional Police and investing in innovative technology, we're taking a proactive approach to protecting our neighbourhoods, supporting law enforcement and disrupting organized crime.

Yesterday at #Brampton Committee of Council, we unanimously passed a bylaw to ensure that the ability to pray at a place of worship remains sacred and safe from protest-related disruptions. Inspired by similar legislation passed in Vaughan, this bylaw would restrict protests at places of worship. Whether you go to a mandir, a gurdwara, a mosque, a synagogue or a church, everyone deserves the right to pray free from violence, harassment and intimidation.

Today, I joined Prime Minister Mark Carney and Chief Nishan Duraiappah for a tour of Peel Regional Police 22 Division to discuss practical steps to enhance public safety in Brampton and across Canada. There is strong momentum across all levels of government to fulfill our respective responsibilities and confront organized crime head-on. From the new lawful access legislation and improved digital evidence capabilities to meaningful bail reform, we are taking real action to protect our communities.

To our Sikh residents, and all Bramptonians, we are here to protect your rights and safety here. Our City Council unanimously passed a motion to send a letter of support to the Prime Minister and Federal Government, in regard to respecting the sovereignty of Canada and its citizens, and encourage the Federal Government to work diligently to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar; and that correspondence be sent to Peel Regional Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Public Safety Minister, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to ensure the safety of all Canadians in places of worship.

When warning signs are missed or treatment is delayed, the consequences are devastating. Thanks to Cllr Navjit Kaur Brar for raising her voice about this important gap in our healthcare system in Canada. What happened at Credit Valley Hospital must not happen again to another family. Words don't do justice to the pain of this loss.
