Our first kill shelter visit of 2026 and she broke our hearts. We know she is sick and won't survive in here. Even though she is scared, we have to give her a chance, a chance to make her eyes light up again. Tomorrow we will go back and take her out - and straight to the vet. 🩷

One of our vet students feeds this stray girl often in the fields. Tonight, she ran after the car, so she took her off the streets. Ten minutes later, the snow started falling and the winds picked up- she must have known a storm was coming. She will stay with us now, safe and loved.

When we went to the public shelter to take this old boy, they warned us: “He’s aggressive.” We took him anyway. He wasn’t aggressive at all. He was terrified of humans. As time passed, the tumour on his side grew larger and larger, until we knew there was no choice—we had to get him surgery somehow. We were scared. He was scared. But thanks to the incredible people who donated about a month ago, Moshu got his chance. Today, his bloodwork is clear. The tumour is gone. And for the first time… he allows Melisa to come close. He may still look afraid, and he may never fully trust people—but he loves being with the other dogs. That’s where he feels safe. That’s where he belongs. Knowing he can live out his golden years without pain is everything. Thank you for believing in him when others didn’t. Thank you for helping to heal him. Moshu 🐾💛

So many times over the last weeks we had seen him, abandoned and maybe searching for an owner who is never coming back. Last night, without the rain and wind howling, Melisa was determined. Of course he ran away, but after hours of patience, finally, he came to her. Safe and warm now in foster. Full of ticks, matted and starving tomorrow he will be treated and cleaned up, for now he rests in rhe warm.

We named her Bella. She has had her tumour surgery and today moved to her foster home to start her recovery in the warm sunshine. She was a stray, only she is too sweet to return to the streets. Our new girl, Bella.

She made it. Rescued from the House of Horror, her quarantine is finally over, and today she took her very first bath. Washing away the caked-on mud feels like the beginning of a whole new life. Next comes a much-needed haircut, and we can't wait to see her transformation. You can spot Robbie watching from his enclosure. Some of our more energetic dogs, like him, take a little break inside while Melisa carefully introduces each new arrival to the calmer members of the Sanctuary family. After a lifetime on a chain, she'll soon be running free, feeling grass beneath her paws and discovering what it means to be loved and safe. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness, support, and belief in our work make stories like hers possible.

Last year, a generous donation from our incredible patron Ricky Gervais enabled us to purchase this land. Work has started on buildings restoration for the horse, car and dog clinics and just started on the outside now the weather is warming. We are so excited to see the changes!

Yesterday, in Northchapel, our church doors opened to something truly special. The pews filled with dogs of every kind — young and old, pedigree and rescue — each one bringing its own story, its own quiet hope. As the carols rose, tails wagged, heads rested gently on laps, and for a moment the world felt softer, kinder. It was a Christmas service unlike any other: singing woven with the sound of breathing and paws on stone, love made visible in every glance between human and dog. And then came the prayer for dogs — a prayer that caught in our throats and brought tears to our eyes. We held onto a simple but powerful Christmas dream: that one day, every dog might know a life filled with happiness and peace; a life free from fear, abuse, hunger, and cold. A world where every dog is loved, safe, and home.

Driving back this evening and we saw a dead mum in the road 😢 as we stopped the car to check, these tiny pups ran out to us, at least one is blind. Heartbreaking doesn’t come close to what we have seen, it’s gone 10pm and after a 6am start, we are still working. Poor pups 😢

It is so beautiful seeing the chained boy free. In his own enclosure for now, kennel and blanket. Yet so heartbreaking to hear that every chew bone he has been given, he tries to hide in his blanket. Never eating them, only saving them all. We cannot even begin to imagine how life on a short chain destroys dogs hearts and souls, yet we are over the moon kmowing he is safe in our care.

Our rescue dogs have already been in hell. Thanks to selfish people letting off fireworks every night, they are in hell again. Just look at poor Chloe, and this is her last night. They are not necessary, and scaring animals and wildlife to death! #banfireworks
