PBSO, PBC State Attorney's Office and FDLE Investigate a Deputy-Involved Shooting - Jog Road South of Woolbright Road Timeline of Events: Yesterday, October 12, at approximately 11:00 p.m, we responded to a robbery in the 400 block of North K Street in the City of Lake Worth Beach. The investigation revealed that the suspect ordered a pizza using a fictitious name. When the pizza was delivered, the suspect approached the victim, identified himself as the person who placed the order, and stated that he only had a $100 bill and needed change. While the victim was counting the change, the suspect grabbed the cash and fled on foot. The victim pursued the suspect. Following a verbal altercation, the suspect fled the scene in a black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. Then, today, October 13, shortly before 11:00 am, PBSO's Tactical Unit located the suspect's vehicle in Lake Park. A PBSO helicopter assisted by maintaining visual surveillance as it traveled north. Tactical Unit deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the suspect fled. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was requested to assist as the suspect traveled south. A vehicle pursuit was initiated in the area of 6th Avenue South and Interstate 95. The suspect exited Interstate 95 at Atlantic Avenueand continued westbound toward Jog Road. The vehicle eventually came to a stop between Grand Isle Drive and Woolbright Road. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. His right arm was wrapped in what appeared to be a shirt or towel. Despite repeated commands to stop and show his hands, the suspect refused to comply. Less-lethal force was deployed but had no effect. The suspect continued running and took cover behind concrete pillars. He eventually positioned himself behind a pillar, knelt down, and assumed a firing stance. A PBSO deputy discharged a firearm, striking him. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect, 54 years old, has a criminal history that included carjacking, robbery, kidnapping, assault, and fraud, among other offenses. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Last night, August 5, 2026, shortly after 8:00 p.m., deputies responded to a welfare check in the 2900 block of Hope Valley Street in unincorporated West Palm Beach. There, deputies encountered the suspect engaged in a physical struggle with his mother and father while armed with a kitchen knife. Deputies repeatedly issued verbal commands for he to drop the knife; however, he refused to comply and continued fighting with his father while remaining armed. In an effort to de-escalate the situation, a deputy deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective. Despite repeated commands to drop the knife the suspect continued the violent altercation while still holding the knife, a deputy discharged his service weapon, striking the suspect in the torso. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid until Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away. In accordance with standard agency protocol, the deputies have been placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are investigating the incident.
