People say there’s a huge gap between simulation and reality—especially when you run the simulation for a long time. That’s generally true… but we’re excited to share that we’ve taken a solid step toward closing that gap. We can now accurately simulate a robot folding boxes in real time—for an impressive one minute and 46 seconds. The secret to bridging the sim-to-real gap? A mix of modern digital-twin toolkits and some good old elastoplastic theory. This Friday at the IROS RoDGE Workshop, Heng Zhang will be presenting his internship project "BoxTwin" at SceniX.
